As of now, just took pressure... Perfect, 120/80. It's 10:44 pm here. So, do I not take it or yes because my pressure might creep up in my sleep. I'm thinking, no, don't take it. I take procardia in the morning if it is very very slightly elevated.

I think you will do very well making those judgment calls. You know about what the dose will do, they've given you some guidelines, and you can monitor and dose accordingly!

If you are worried about skipping tonight you can always test when you get up to pee

Based on what you said, that you should take if BP is high, it sounds like where your BP is now it's "not take". I'd worry it would get too low while you sleep if you took 300 labetalol on top of that nice BP.

Glad we could be here to help with some peace of mind. The ladies here were awesome with me during my last pregnancy more than 4 years ago and I know they for sure saved my sanity if not also my life. Hang in there!!

Well, I did end up taking labetelol not even 2 hours after asking you guys. My bp might be a little different than most. I was very frustrating for Dr's after my daughter was delivered last October. Everything with me is blamed on lupus. Whereas many people will have stable bp for hours, mine can be high an hour from the last time I checked. That, is why I was reluctant this past Tuesday to even get off labetelol and why I was nervous about skipping that nightly dose even though my bp is normal when I go to bed. So, it got up to 147/97. I took the pill and an hour later checked, 119/79. I think I'm just going to continue with procardia in the morning and labetelol at night, no matter what. Thanks everyone!!!

Just some advice....don't stop taking your medication or skip doses unless directed by your physician. A blood pressure of 120/80 is not low enough to skip a dose of labetolol. If you feel your blood pressure is to low and your becoming symptomatic (cold..clamy...light headed or dizzy) then notify your physician so he/she can adjust your dose. You want a steady dose of the drug in your bloodstream around the clock and when you skip doses it makes it harder for your blood pressure to be well controlled. If you don't trust your physician then find one whom you will have a good relationship with and who will listen to your concerns. Most docs will listen and try lower doses of medications to see how you will do.

Leeann, thanks for your input. The problem with my experience last week is, it WAS the doctor who chose to have me skip a dose. That's what frustrates me the most right now because, as you said, when doses are skipped its harder to control my bp. Now, in retrospect, I'm thinking "duh...!" Didn't they know this?? It's almost a week later and I've now gone a full day with regular bp. My problem wasn't even as much them modifying my dosage. If you're going to have me skip, then monitor. I don't know if it's due to lupus or what but my bp situation is NOT like most peoples. You can go long with me unmediated and expect normal bp. That was also my huge problem with them and why I've changed hospitals. Those doctors, if they reviewed my case... they all claim they had, know I stayed in the hospital last October for 2 weeks trying to get my bp stable. I came back to ER (labor and delivery twice) several times because my bp was over 230/130. THEN, it took about 11 weeks postpartum to find the right dosage and get me stabilized. So, no, I agree with you. But, the doctor is the one suggesting I skip Labetelol. Only one doctor though. They weren't even all on the same page, conflicting directions. My bp is fine now. I take exactly what I took before they intervened. I've also changed hospitals!

Good for you!! I switched doctors and the hospital where I would deliver also because none of the doctors were ever on the same page. I really like my mfm specialist and they are watching me closely. This time around and not only that but they are compassionate too...which is nice too!

Soooo, just got the results for my 24 hour finished Saturday, 115! Anyone else have this happen?? Decrease in protein?

Ahhh 115 wonderful!! I will be having another 24 hour urine test done at 20 weeks , Im just a little over 17 weeks now I was 143 at 7 weeks , so we'll see!! I am happy yours went down, how far are you?
