Thanks Ladies for your responses, glad to know it (early spotting while on LDA) is not a common symptom, and not happening to any of you...no added worries needed.

I am on LDA since this pregnancy was confirmed by my doctors. I have had no bleeding in any form. Only when I need to have blood drawn, I need to tell the nurses, as it takes a bit longer before injection site stops bleeding (and I get bruised from it).
It can be normal to bruise easier when on blood thinners.

I was on lovenox (injected blood thinner) and lda for both pregnancies (with no known clotting disorder) and have never had a bit of spotting or bleeding (or issues related to the blood thinners) with either.

I have heard of it happening, rarely but sometimes. It may just be that the person has an "irritable cervix" or whatever and the blood thinners turn it into light bleeding or whatever.

I wouldn't worry about it too much just yet. Many women don't have any trouble with it.

LDA, early pregnancy bleeding

Postby lei.in.the.sky » Wed Oct 10, 2012 00:38 am

Hi everyone,

Congrats on being pregnant! healthy pregnancies to all...

I have been taking LDA and folic acid for a few months now, prepping for TTC (recommended by doctor). we are not officially trying, but also not preventing (trying not to place too much pressure on ourselves).

I have a friend who is about 18 weeks pregnant (1st pregnancy through IVF), and she was put on baby aspirin prior to implantation and asked to remain on baby aspirin (relating to her IVF and not PE risk). She had regular spotting/bleeding throughout first trimester and into her second, and when she saw a specialist at 16 weeks he told her to stop taking the baby aspirin and see if the bleeding tapered off. sure enough it did. baby is growing well.

My question for the PE community on this board is, does anyone have experience on being on LDA, getting pregnant and spotting in first few weeks, or trimester (not related to initial implantation spotting)? and that the pregnancy went on without any threatened miscarriage?

I am either being too proactive or a worry wart way ahead of time :) just wanted to know the experience of women with previous PE, as many may be taking LDA prior to conception or starting during first trimester.

Thanks for sharing your experiences
