Kick counts - when to start them
Re: Kick counts - when to start them
Thanks. I just couldn't remember and then everytime I sit down for a bit and expect him to start moving around he just doesn't! At night he will for a bit but still not too too much yet. I thought about the placenta thing too b/c last pregnancy mine was anterior but my son was SO crazy strong I couldn't even imagine what it would have been like if it hadn't been - I'd probably end up with a bruised or broken rib!! They didn't mention it at either ultrasound (which is when they did last pregnancy) but I'll ask my midwife what the u/s pics are showing

24-28 wks, closer to 28 than 24, typically.
At 22 weeks that sounds very normal.

Re: Kick counts - when to start them
Hi. At 22 weeks I felt the same going on as you in there. Small movements here and there but not much and I was conerned. Im learning everyones different as is each baby. My doc told me to start at 26 weeks.I will be 31 weeks friday and just the last couple weeks Im really feeling more consistent stronger movements! Another thing to consider is that if your placenta is anterior ( in front) it's much harder to feel the baby moving because it's like a big cushion/buffer against your belly where you'd be feeling him kick. Hope this helps

Benjamin Spider Reeves born 4-28-2010( 1lb 6oz 26 weeks to severe pre-e and Iugr) we lost you after 4 long months in the NICU. You fought so hard, and were so brave. Our first baby .We miss you everyday and love you forever xo

Kick counts - when to start them
I've done this 2x before - you'd think I would know the answer. But, when do you start counting kicks? I'm 22 wks and so far this baby really doesn't make too many kicks per hour. Even when I'm laying down - there'll be one or two at a time and I think one round of hiccups but beyond that he's pretty quiet in there. I have my midwife appt on Fri and am trying not to worry b/c I think it might be early for kick counts. For those of you who are further along (or actually remember from previous pregnancies) - when were you told to start really doing kick counts? Thanks!
