Update & Question

I had to share... my AFP this pregnancy was normal! Last pregnancy, it came back with elevated risk for Down Syndrome. I looked and my Inhibin-A levels were really high and the MoM was 2.57. This time is was 1.4, which I think is a good sign?

I don't know much about all this but it came back normal, so I am happy for the moment.

I'm now 17w2d. Getting closer to the 20 week mark where I will probably start to panic. My BPs have been great! 100's/60's. They weren't even that low prior to pregnancy. I'm on Labetolol 200mg 3 times a day, so it seems to be controlling things really well.

I also wanted to ask... how many of you have had a uterine artery doppler/ultrasound? My OB and MFM haven't mentioned this but I did some research and it seems to be pretty important. I'm going to ask about it. Do they do that at a Level II ultrasound or is it different?

Thanks everyone!!

Yay for normal! Such a beautiful word!!

I'm not really sure about the U/S- I know when we did our level IIs they always spent time on the umbilical cord checking things out- not sure if that's the same and I never thought to ask- probably the only question I didn't ask! I too will be curious to hear other's experiences.

Here's hoping for a smooth ride to 20 weeks and beyond!

I just had my 20 week level II u/s and they did check the uterine artery to see if there was any notching in the wave form. I still need to read about the test again to better understand what they are looking for. My MFM plans to do it at least monthly if not every 2 weeks. My results were all normal this time. :D
I do know that it is not an exact science but they feel that it could be helpful to catch abnormalities.

Thanks for the replies guys. :)

I had my anatomy scan yesterday and I asked the MFM about the uterine artery doppler and he said it wouldn't really tell them anything. He said he already considers my risk high because of the chornic hypertension and having pre-e before so they don't need to do it? He said the BEST tool to assess how things are going is checking my BP at home. So, I will continue to do that.
