I will have to ask my OB. When they took my blood pressure today it was 136/86 so they had me lay down for a but which usually helps but after a few minutes of resting it was 132/88. They didn't seem concerned though. Everything looked good on the ultrasound and the tech said the resistance was "low" and the way my doctor made it seem was that it was low before but she was looking for none? I don't really know what is going on. I'm not quite sure if the communication between the offices is great but I'm not surprised. I got a call this morning saying I had to reschedule my appointment to Friday so now if I have to wait to address my concerns with her. Sigh. I'm happy baby is growing and looking good but I'm also a bit annoyed because I feel like I get brushed off until I see my doctor and then she has a new concern.

I figured I would update here as I saw my OB yesterday. My BP has finally and miraculously gone back to normal 100's/60's. I've gotten no explanation as to why my blood pressure sky rocketed the way it did but my OB doesn't think I have preeclampsia or seem concerned at all. She didn't even remember that she sent me to the perinatal specialist this week and I had to remind her so she didn't look at the report before I saw her. She said there's no need for more blood work or anything but just to keep an eye on my BP as I have been.

While I'm glad things are back in the normal range, not exactly a vote of confidence that your OB didn't remember any of your history or double check the report. Please keep posted on your symptoms and report things out of the norm. How many weeks are you now?

I'll be 37 weeks on Monday. I'm starting to feel completely miserable but I truly feel like I'm overreacting. Heartburn and indigestion are getting to the point where I don't even want to eat and medicine doesn't help very much and my back is killing me. Not to mention I'm exhausted all of the time. Sorry for complaining I just needed to get it out. :( my BP has been good today but higher than it was yesterday so I have a feeling when I go back next week it will be above average again. When I asked the nurse yesterday if such a huge jump in BP is cause for concern and she said no that it just happens sometimes. I'm no doctor but it still concerns me.

I'm beginning to become concerned again because now I'm getting shooting pains under the right side of my ribs. It's not excruciating so I may very well be overreacting but it's definitely there. I'm going to call my doctor and hope she gets the message before closing time today. Usually when I call they don't call me back until right before they close.

I would be concerned, too, and I'm concerned for you. If they don't call you back, or if they do and you're not satisfied with their answer, you can always go into L&D and demand to be seen. If the doctor won't admit you or at least do labs (blood and urine) while you're there, tell him/her you want it in writing in your chart that you had symptoms you were concerned about and asked for labs to be run and s/he refused. Then ask for a copy of your chart so you can make sure s/he really wrote it. Most doctors will back down and do the tests if we advocate for ourselves. They don't want to get into trouble for failing to take a patient seriously if something really is wrong, and documenting it would ensure they would get into trouble. If it turns out to be nothing, at least you know. And if it is something, then you've done your best to get the care you and baby need.

Thank you for the advice! I never got a call back and I should have called again but I thought about it and figured I will just go into L&D if I begin to feel worse. I feel as if I'm overreacting but the severity of the possible complications make me feel as if it's okay to overreact. It sucks that doctors can't see it that way too. This doctor was actually referred to me by the wives of my husbands coworkers and right now I'm kind of wondering if I should have picked another doctor :( she is a great doctor but lately it just seems like she's been way too busy.

Please go to L&D if you don't feel well. And as has been suggested ask that it is documented that you asked for labs and that it was refused. And please do not feel that you are overreacting (I know it is hard not to). PE and HELLP are very serious conditions and unfortunately many doctors do not take their patients' complaints, worries and symptoms seriously. If you don't feel that your current doctor is the best for you and your baby, would you consider to switch? There is nothing worse to be stuck with a doctor whom you don't trust and who is not taking your concerns seriously.

At this point switching wouldn't be an option. I'm 37 weeks today and I can only imagine the hoops I have to jump through to switch providers in time. My insurance just went through a huge switch and dealing with them as of late has been lengthy. Again thank you all for the advice, it is much appreciated. I'm feeling a lot better today than the last two days so I think that's a good sign but I would still have liked to speak with my doctor today. My next appointment isn't until Thursday.

You need to go to the hospital, now, if you're having pains under your right ribs. I was blown off by the OB/GYN and told (in a really bitchy tone) "of course you're short of breath and tired and your ribs hurt- you're almost 7 months pregnant and you're retaining water. Now, if you'd just rest like I told you to, you'd be fine." I didn't listen. I drove to the ER and had my son a few hours later, via emergency c-section due to Class 1 HELLP. I spent 2 weeks in ICU, had 3 transfusions, and almost needed a liver transplant. All because she was too busy to listen to what I was telling her. The docs had no medical reason why my placenta hadn't ruptured by that point. It's a miracle. Don't chance it! The worst thing is that they'll send you home! GO!
