Re: Underlying disorders
Yes, I will be seeing an MFM. However, when I had pre-e, etc. with number 1, they did not test for ANY underlying disorders. I find that I usually have to bring my doctors a specific list of tests in order for them to do them. The only reason they even knew I had pre-e was because I collected my own urine for 24 hours and brought it to them and demanded they test it. They didn't even take my placenta afterwards for testing which made me mad. In general, with the quality of care that we have in this country, I find that a person has to take charge of their own medical care. Unfortunately, last time I did not know to demand testing for underlying disorders, but this time I want to make sure I have my ducks in a row and know specifically what tests to ask for.
I do not have chronic hypertension.
I know NK cells are one, thrombophilia is another....what are others?

Yes, auto immune and clotting disorders can put you at higher risk, as well as chronic hypertension. Will you be seeing a MFM (high risk doc) as well? If not I would ask for a referral. They'll have a solid idea of what underlying bloodwork to do given your history.

Underlying disorders
What underlying disorders typically cause Pre-e? What tests should a doctor order?
I had pre-e plus my son had IUGR with number 1. I'm pregnant with number 2. As far as I know, I was never tested for underlying disorders with number 1, but I've read that a number of underlying disorders like certain autoimmune disorders or clotting disorders can cause pre-e. Any help is appreciated! I fell like I need to go to my OB with a list.
