TLC/Duggar family campaign needs your help

Please take a moment to help us encourage the Discovery Channel and their TLC affiliate to recognize the Preeclampsia Foundation as the primary source of patient support and information for families like the Duggars. Up to 300,000 pregnant women suffer from hypertensive disorders of pregnancy each year, just in the United States. And in Canada - up to 40,000.

This Sunday at 8/7 CT, TLC is airing a special edition of "19 Kids and Counting" that will focus on the Duggar family's 19th pregnancy which ended in the early delivery of 25-weeker Josie. Cause: preeclampsia. We have tried to encourage TLC to provide the Preeclampsia Foundation's website as a source of credible information targeted to patients. And now we need your help.

Please send a quick email via this link http://extweb.discovery.com/viewerrelations and ask them to please include a valuable public information website -- www.preeclampsia.org -- in conjunction with the Duggar family special that is airing this weekend. We are a non-profit organization and our mission is to help all women get accurate information about this common disorder of pregnancy.

This is probably not the most direct way to reach the producers, so if you have other inroads, please use them and share with this community.

Thanks to so many people for jumping on this communication campaign. It worked! The TLC and Discovery Health have incorporated the Preeclampsia Foundation's website through much of their online material. A special thank you to the lady who really made it happen -- one of our Southern California walk coordinators, Meredith D, pulled some strings and used some family connections that lead us to the right people. Way to go, Meredith!
