Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease?

My kids had a play date with my twin cousins who are 18 months on Saturday. The twins were well and healthy and played just fine. Well on Sunday they both came down with a fever. Then today they woke up, both fevers are gone, but one of them has blisters on his feet and in his mouth. He is going to the doctor today, but we all pretty much figure they have hand, foot, and mouth disease, although we cant figure out why the other twin has no fever and no blisters yet. Well yesterday my DD came down with a fever, she still has it today, and now my son has one too. I have been giving the tylenol. I have heard that these blisters/sores that come with the hand, foot, and mouth disease are really painful. Can you give me some insight on what I can do to make my kids more comfortable when the blisters finally come? Is there mild forms of this disease or does everyone pretty much get the blisters? Thanks!

My son had the form of HFM where you only get the blisters/ulcers inside the mouth. Our pedi knew exactly what it was because apparently it's a specific number of blisters/ulcers children get. I want to say he had like 10. My baby could not even nurse during this time. He couldn't swallow let alone suck. She prescribed him a medication that the pharmacy had to make (Walgreens) that was a combination of benadryl and something else (can't remember) to sooth the ulcers, but it just had to run it's course like most virus's. He had fever too.

The version he got has a name but I can't remember it!! sorry!

My 3 1/2 year just got over HFM - or at least we think that was what it was. We knew we had been exposed to HFM and chicken pox. High fever last Monday night, it went away, his feet were covered in spots Tuesday night. He complained about not feeling well in general, but not itching or pain. He got a couple sores on his bumm that did bother him, but only for a day and not too bad. Not every case of HFM involves all affected areas. I hope you get lucky and have a mild case like we did.
My 10 month old had a fever, but never developed any rashes. We think he may have managed to fight it off. Both my husband and I had a couple sores in our mouth, so we could have had a mild version of it too.
