why else can period be so late?

I know that everyone here is TTC, I am not. I am a "planner" and do not want to be PG right now. However my period is now 8 days late. I took a test and it was negative so why else could my period be so late?? I think I will be taking another test today. :/

not traveling or exercising, my son's 2nd birthday was a little stressful with the planning and just the remembering. I am hoping that is it, but I guess all I can do is wait and see! and take another test today.

My last period was a week late, and it is never late so I was as confused as you are! It did come, but I took 2 pregnancy tests in the meantime--negative. I wasn't going through stress or anything different so I don't know why out of the blue I went from a 26-28 day cycle to 35 day cycle. I am hoping this one is more normal so I don't have to feel like I am waiting every single month.

I am not TTC either.

Thanks Alexa, that is what I wanted to hear :) I have never been late before (except when pregnant) and have always had a 28 day cycle. Keeping my fingers crossed.

If you ovulated late, or didn't ovulate at all, or a bunch of other reasons. If it's 8 days late and you aren't getting a + test, I would say the chances are most likely that you aren't pregnant unless by some fluke you ovulated late and managed to accidentally catch the egg late too and it's just too soon to be positive. If you have been using BC of some form, my guess is that you are probably safe because if you are pregnant it should be showing positive by now for sure except for the scenario I mentioned.

As Angie says, it depends on the time of ovulation or if ovulation occurred.

Did it come yet? I know in my case, I was planning on going to the doctor to rule out any issues if it didn't come by about 10 days late. I know for some people that would normally not be an issue, but considering I was always on time, I was a little concerned being so late (for me).
