Med update

Postby evansmom » Tue Feb 03, 2004 07:57 pm

A couple of posts back, I mentioned that my OB decided my BPs were stable enough to take me off my meds and give the 2nd trimester a go med-less. I was ambivilent about his decision, but figured he knew best. The past 10 days or so, I've been having those "labile" pressures -- great bps resting, but moving around they've gone up a bit (130s & 140s). Now tonight, I went to my nutritionist who I began seeing pre-preg, and she informed me I had gained 7 pounds in one month!!! (We don't believe its due to over eating; I've tried to watch my diet fairly consistently and had only gained 3 lbs to this point). Although I don't have any obvious swelling yet, I knew that couldn't be a good sign. My OB agreed. I just got off the phone with him, and he decided its too early in the pregnancy to let a bad trend start with my BP. So back on meds I go.
Tomorrow I start Aldomet 500mg 2x/day. I had really hoped that maybe, just maybe, I could have a NORMAL pregnancy this time[V]. I guess with any type of hypertensive disorder that effects pregnancy, normal is out of the question. I just hope the aldomet works for me. It didn't do such a great job in Preg. #1, although by that point my bps were through the roof and I was already very swollen. I'm keeping my fingers crossed this time...

Hugs to you, Lauren! I'm so sorry you have to go back on the meds. I'll pray that it keeps your bp down and steady for as long as possible!

Same here Lauren,

Sorry that you have to go back on the meds, but it's better to keep those BP's under control, eh?

How far along are you now? 17 weeks? Almost halfway done.

I hope you can keep your spirits up and have a good outcome to this pregnancy!

No meds yet...Other than the rise from 100something/60something to 120something/80something, my bp has been fairly normal. That reminds me that I need to have dh take it again as it's been about a week. Hopefully I won't need meds and be Pre-e free this go-round. I am apparently getting comfortable enough to not have my bp taken too often, but still not in the "it won't happen to me" stage yet. LOL Who knows?

Sorry if I confused you, the "same here" was reguarding aimee's sentiments.
