preemie update

I just wanted to update on my daughter Lainey who turns 2 tomorrow. She was born at 29 weeks and weighed 3 lbs 4 oz. She is 36 inches tall and weighs 25 lbs. So her %tiles are 95% for height and 50% for weight. The doc thinks that if she continues on her growth curve as she has, she will be 6 feet tall as an adult!!! I am 5'5" so this is a shock to me!!! So preemies do catch up. My son was a 28 weeker and he also is 90%tile for height and 50%tile for weight. My preemies are beanpoles. Oh, to have those genes throughout life!!

Yeah, we did have a big party for our Lainey. We had about 30 kids go to a pumpkin patch/farm and they picked their own pumpkins out and we decorated them. IT was a perfect fall day. She was just so cute and just had a ball with all of the animals. I am so partied out....although that Halloween party is this weekend where dh and I are going as Ben Affleck and J-lo!!

I am experiencing mixed feelings today. Mainly because [xx(] plumbing problems that continue to develop here at home. Anyways, never mind that!

My son was born 2 yrs ago. He started out 2 lbs 5 oz 14 ins. Born at 31 weeks. (thats 2 month premature). Natan is now 2 yrs, 4 month and 4 days old[:p].

We just had review at Infant Devep Center at Stanford. Today, he weighs 22 3/4 lbs and 31 inches long. Growing within 5 percentile and he is on the curve line. He is a short little guy, but very friendly. Dr said he is doing great overall. We need to continue speech 1x week, PT 1x week and OT 1x a month and continue with special program at Sarc 2x week.

I am really happy he is doing well health wise,[:D] but am concerned that he will be short for age. I know every child is different as far as growth patterns.

Qu. Have more experienced preemie moms seen difference in height after awhile? Maybe after puperty? DH is 6,2 and I am 5, 3.

I don't know if height issues are because of the preemie thing. Ironically, my only full term baby is bound to be a petit, small peanut. She is always 25%tile for h/w/etc. Cole and Lainey shot up very quickly for preemies and are pretty tall. If you are 5'2", maybe your son will just take after you? What does the doc say?
