Preggers 5 mo's after #1!

Hey gals, glad I found this website again!!!
I just had a baby on June 2nd at 27 weeks due to severe preeclampsia. I'm now 6 weeks pregnant. (evil laughter) My OB says that I've got a 30% chance of developing it again. I've already decided to have my tubes tied after this baby, and I'm only 26. What do you think will happen?

Holy Cow!!!! Congratulations... you must be in total shock! Is your question.. will I get preeclampsia again or is it tubes tied at 26... I'm in real trouble here because I have no way to punctuate that sentence LOL!!!

If it is the first, well, your odds are certainly higher than most that you might have it again, on the other hand... it may be smooth sailing. The best thing is to have an OB (preferably perinatologist or MFM specialist) that is "up" on preeclampsia and can follow you closely. Have you been screened for stuff that might have predisposed you to getting preeclampsia? If not, that might be something to bring up with your OB now to try and offset a problem later. Let me be the first to wish you 40 weeks of pregnancy!!!

If it is the second, heck it is a personal choice. A very permanent one.... I wouldn't commit to anything for a while.... I tied mine (not personally [;)]) after my most recent pregnancy and it is bittersweet knowing that I won't be doing any of the tiny baby stuff again.

Congrats!!! Make sure you get a good appointment with a prinatologist. Also, look at the postings that refer to vitamin supplements. Before taking any -ask your doc. I would be aggressive about talking to your doc about baby aspirin. I just have a strong feeling that is what helped me go full term FINALLY with my third, as well as MANY vitamins, bedrest and bp meds. Good luck!!

Thanks! I just found the forum again. [8D] I somehow tested positive for this pregnancy 2 weeks after I conceived, according to the u/s. My obstetrician works with high risk pregnancies, and she won't hesitate to send me back to the high risk specialists who are 2 hours away. This OB suggests that I try calcium and, I believe, chromium. I'll ask her about the baby tylenol at my next visit, on the 10th. I will have my tubes tied if this pregnancy ends early. I read on this site that I have a 60% chance of developing severe pre-e again, at the same time I did last time, before 28 weeks. That will leave me to have the baby in April. I guess I'm just lazy when it comes to carrying babies... lol. My OB thinks I will deliver early, but she's got her fingers crossed that I'll deliver on time.

YAY Jessica! I'm glad you have a doctor you are comfortable with! I think you mean asprin, don't you? LOL about being lazy carying babies...that's funny though I don't think lazyness has anything to do with it! lol And, stop losing our address! lol, like it is MY website...okay, the PF's address...lol

I really need to go, I'm acting nuts [:o)]
