As mentioned in my last post: Heparin and low-dose Aspirin *may* improve birthweights but no solid evidence to support this.

You need also consider the potential negative effects of heparin (it can increase her risk of excessive bleeding, thrombocytopenia (Thrombocytopenia is a disorder in which the number of platelets (a type of blood cell) is abnormally low, sometimes associated with abnormal bleeding), osteoporosis, daily injections) in situations of unproven benefit.

So to summarize, I think your wife's physician is practicing good reasonable medicine at this point. I know it is hard--particularly given the loss you have experienced--and obviously, since I don't know your wife--I cannot say without having seen her--but it sounds like she is getting good care.

To the expert who answerd my last question

Postby jeff serve » Tue Apr 22, 2003 01:33 pm

My Wife was 14.5 weeks pregnant when we lost are son, she was ,and myself were diagnosed with mthfr.Do you think that Heparan will help, or do you think that baby ASperin along will do the job, also will the doctor check her homosisten level to see if there is a blockage in the placenta like the last time. The thing is that my doctor gets mad because I've done alot of reseach on MTHFR, and everywhere it suggests that the use of Heparan should be used with Baby aspirin, he hates that I controdict him, I think he is very ignorant and very conseeded, so thats why i don't think that we get along.
Please let me know that I'm doing the right thing by asking all these questions, I just want a healthy baby.
