Seeing a Pulmonary specialist

It has been a while since I have posted... times just seems to disappear with 2 kids...

On 12-18-03 Wyatt went to see a specialist because he had been sick since about the 1st of October. he has had bronchiolitis from then until about 10 days after seeing specialist. He gave Wyatt 6 scripts. and on 1-7-04 he is doing several tests on him to check how bad the reflux (barium swallow) and a sweat chloride test for something. They are going to be doing other tests as well trying to check for asthma. The doc seems to think that is the culprit of all his sickness so far. Since most of the other illnesses would cause him to not gain weight good and other things that arent happening but he is still going to test for them just to be on the safe side.

I know I am going to have a fun morning the day of the testing.. it says for him not to eat 4 hrs prior to testing. Try explaining that to a hungry baby...hehe[:0]

On the up side Wyatt is huge now... he weighs 16lb 4oz

Oh, poor baby... sorry for all of the tests. One good thing about tests, though: generally, afterwards, you can understand something better about the baby. Good luck!

I cant wait to go and get the testing over with, but I am really dreading the 4 hrs prior to the tests... he is not a happy camper when he is hungry. Does anyone know what the sweat test is for??

I really hope we can find out why he keeps having so much pulmonary problems.... he has gotten the bronchitis yet again.. With us doing nothing different that before.

Oh yea I forgot to mention before the doctor is going to try and get that shot for him for RSV since he is having so many problems.

Donna, I think the sweat test might be for cystic fibrosis. Hope the tests just prove that Wyatt is the little darling he looks.

Well, Wyatt's checkup went pretty good... they said he weighed 15lbs 9.6oz though.. (the 16 was from a diff place) and he was 25 1/2 in long.

I found out that the sweat test is for CF from the dr yesterday. Poor baby he been running a bit of a temp but not from his shots.. he has started cutting top teeth now.. He wants all his teeth quickly.....lol

Well, He had all the tests done, there were 3 of them. One tested the cells in the back of the nose, the upper GI and the sweat test. All were normal.... so far it is just asthma. Still working on getting the synagis shot. Should find out in a few more weeks.

We are going to see a stomach specialist next. Waiting to hear about the appt time and date from doctor.

I am so glad that all those were normal too.... I still just wondering why he is getting so sick or sick sounding at the slightest change in anything... We have been having really odd weather here for this time of year too though. I mean 70 degrees in Jan in East Tenn. I dont think I have ever saw it this warm ever before in my life. The 70 was about a week ago if that long and tonite it is 26 and snowing.....lol...

I am not sure about this weather at all. too weird[:o)][:p]
