I just saw this story on NBC Nightly News here in CT. They talked to a women who developed severe pre-e at 26 wks. Her son was born via emergency c-section weighing 1.1 lbs and later passed after 4 days.

They went on to say that over 200,000 women a year develop pre-e and that their study shows that the body is producing a toxic protein which is detected in the urine. She had the testing done and went on to have to healthy pregnancies afterwards. Testing will be available w/in a year and perhaps change the course of pre-e over the next several.

Here's to hoping that we get an answer soon.
