Pre term Labor

Well I went in to the hospital thinking I was having signs of pre-e but I was in labor. No signs of pre-e at all. It was pre term Labor. I was induced at 32 wks with my first son due to severe preeclampsia. Im almost 34 weeks with my second. They got it all stopped with mag. I forgot how horrible that stuff was. Im dialated to a 2. But it stopped. It was pretty scary. But they kept telling me theres a big difference in a 32 weeker and a 34 weeker. Just wondering what does the averege 34 weeker weigh? It might help ease my mind to know I could have a larger child then 3 lbs. The hospital said I will not be stopped after 36 weeks so we take no chance of developing unwanted illness. But Im home now and I just have to go back if it starts back up. I guess if its not one thing its another. Im just very happy to make it past the 32 week point in this pregnancy. I was nervouse until then. Has anyone else had problems with pre term labor after being induced early in prev preg.? The doc said it had nothing to do with it but Ive learned to trust experience more than what doctors say. ( Most of the time[:)])[:)][:)]

Deanna, at 34 wks, according to babycenter the average baby is 4 and 3/4 lbs. And it says a 32 weeker is 3 3/4 lbs. So a pound is actually a fair difference when they are that size as opposed to with us! lol

Sorry about the preterm labor! Hope everything works out okay and you'll deliver a healthy baby at term.

Also, I was dilated to 2 and 80% effaced at 34 weeks as well, but with no regualr contracts and I didn't have Ben until 39 weeks and 4 days!! But, what I wanted to say is that if you think your EDD is pretty right on usually by 34 weeks lungs are developed!! Baby's fair very well!! So, just rest a bunch and know that it won't be like last time as far as how little the baby is[:)] Let us know how everything is going!!!

I had a 35 weeker who was 4lbs 15oz! He actually was doing better than mommy and ready to come home before I was! He did beautifully and sailed right through everything! At 6 months he was a 20# porker!

I had a daughter at 34 weeks and 5 days. She was 4 lbs and 3 oz and very healthy. Good luck to you!!

I was induced at 34 weeks 1 day. He was 4 lb 4 oz, but had breathing troubles and was on a vent at first (had to transfer to a different hospital!) Once off the vent he did really well and was home in 2 weeks (at 4 lb 7oz, he lost before he gained.)

Now, 2 years later, thankfully it's hard to believe he had such a hard start. He seems to be ahead of many of his peers.

Well the good news is that I was giving steroid shots for his lungs so that will help if he comes early. My son born at 32 weeks had steriod shots before he came and his were good. I just want to have a big fat healthy pink baby that I can take home the next day. I dont think that is too much to ask for. I guess I should be gratful Ive made it to 34 weeks. I know too many people arent even that lucky. Thanks for all the support its nice to have a place to vent worries and anger.

Hey Deanna,

I dialated to 3cm at 30 wks with my 1st (no pe). With the help of terbutaline, bedrest, and a home monitoring system I made it to 36wks. My 2nd preg, I started dialating at 28 wks but I stayed at a 2 right up until 4 days before her due date! Unbelievable! With this last preg, my doc started me on Omega 3 early. It helps relax an irritable uterus. Ask your doc about it?
