Site for bedresting moms to talk to each other

Postby momathelete » Sun May 04, 2003 08:36 am

Well, the topic says it all. How about a site that pre-E moms on bedrest can talk/support other moms. I belong to sidelines, but most (~95%) of the women have PTL, not pre-E. SInce I am stuck in bed all day, I would love to chat with others in the same boat, especially since we have the same issues.

Michelle
mom to Cole Thomas -former 28.5 weeker (3-5-99, 3 lbs)due to HELLP and Madelaine Grace "Lainey" -former 29.5 (10-11-01, 3lbs 4oz)weeker due to Pre-E and now expecting third, on bedrest, have high blood pressure and would love to see this baby make it to 30 weeks -May 10th. Due to perinatologist's suggestion, I am on C,E,B12,B6,Omega-3, iron, prenatal, calcium, baby aspirin and bp meds

We did consider this option in the very beginning before even the forum went live, but were worried it would lie untouched, as some chat rooms do.
I do think the idea is very good, and am pleased that you have brought it forward, is there anyone else who shares this desire to have a chat room? I can certainly look into it if there is enough interest.
May take a short while though, I have a two week old to tend to![;)]

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy Michelle.[:)]

Angela,

Take your time and enjoy your baby! I was really not thinking about a chat room, because that would have to have a facillitator and that may be unused. A topic that is set up like Ask the expert or ask the experienced may do the trick. I would love to support women in the same boat as me. We kind of are doing that now, but a seperate linkage would be nice.

I would love to see a BB for bestrest women. I happen to use all the other boards in place of a bedrest forum but, I know many bedrest "victims" that suffer isolation, depression etc. simply from not being able to associate with others in similar situations. It is great to talk to friends on the phone but, there is something about communicating with someone who is in the same boat that I think would be worth while. The thing is that I only have a week of bedrest left. But, after 4 pregnancies with differing levels of bedrest, I would have loved this type of forum. I agree with Michelle, that other forums have different situations. Having had PE and preterm labor both, I can say that PE women have such a different set of circumstances than PTL. (Without lessening the seriousness of PTL, it seems like a walk in the park next to PE!) A venue for PE bedrest women to share and support each other would be beneficial.
