Update on Wyatt

Hey all... I have been off here for a while due to everyone being a bit sick. Here is just a littel update so far, we went on the 27th to see the stomach doctor and he is going to do a scope (run thing down into stomach and look around) while he does that the pulmimologist is going to do one as well to look at his lungs. Then they are having him stay overnight at the hospital to do a ph probe to see how many times a day he is refuxing.

I havent gotten the date for when they are doing this as of yet but Im sure it will be soon.

He weighed 16lbs 9 1/2oz when we were there. He isnt gaining weight as fast now. Not sure why unless it is just the age and he is doing more stuff.

Donna,

I am so glad you checked in! I am so sorry about Wyatt. You guys have been through so much! You will be in my prayers. Let us know when it is. It is just sad to put such a little one through this kind of testing.

Hugs to you, Donna! Wyatt's weight sounds good (He weighs a full pound more than Kalen), and you're right - they do tend to slow down on the rate of gaining around this age. Less time eating, and more time rolling, jumping, etc. I pray they find some real answers with these tests!

Well, he has started getting congested again... but he will be getting both the scope and the bronchosopy (sp??) done on the 20th so long as he is sounding clear and both doctors have no conflicts with that time... Just thought I would update a little.

I'm sorry, Donna. Can't wait for this winter with all its germs to be over! Let us know on the 20th what happens. Give that sweet baby a snuggle and tell him we hope he feels better soon!

Well, I dont have the results of the biopsys yet but the scopes went well.

The pulminologist said all looked fine was barely any mucus in the lungs (which was very good). He also said that one part of something in the airways that is suppose to be a circle was kinda floppy in one part which he would grow out of but would make for noisy breathing.

The gastro. said all looked well except that he definately has a Grade II reflux (not sure what the grade II is though or how bad) maybe someone here will know.

Wyatt is now taking Prevacid 7.5mg in the mornings, Reglan 1mg - 4 times a day, and Zantac 1mg before bedtime. It is kinda hard to remember all those along with my meds and my dd meds too.. but since yesterday he is eating better I think already. He is only taking these like this for 2 mo then going to check him again.

One question I have is for anyone who has used the Reglan. What kind of side effects did your child have from it if any?? I know that it is one that can cause some bad ones from what I have heard.

Hey Donna,

It was a big week for baby tests this week. What did they biopsy and what are they looking for? Those are some awful tests for poor Wyatt. How are you holding up? Your family is in my prayers. I hope the worst is over.

they took biopsys everywhere...lol... the one took some out of the lungs to check for stomach acid and the other took one from before the stomach, one in the stomach and then in the part just after the stomach... not sure exactly what they are looking for on the gastro side though... I will know all results in 2 wks though.

I am doing pretty good... I wasnt as bad as I thought I would be at the hospital, just didnt sleep good and got a migraine while there.

At least he was alseep for all of the tests, except that ph probe, that was so hard to remember to flip a switch for almost everything he did.. laying - sitting - eating - not eating....
