Just wanted to share our story briefly in case it can help anyone. Our first pregnancy resulted in Preeclampsia. Our baby was born at 25 weeks and only survived for 7 weeks in the NICU.
We went to see Dr. August in NYC. My wife was diagnosed with Essential Thrombocythemia, a condition in which you have a high platelet count and sticky platelets. Her high platelet count was present on every blood test she had ever had since childhood, but no previous doctor had ever noticed it.
From day one of our second pregnacy, my wife started Heprin injections. There were no signs of any preelampsia symptoms during this second pregnancy. She gave birth to a healthy, full term baby who is now nine months old and is the joy of our lives!!!
