You guys might remember that some of us mentioned that our doctors prescribed lasix for our postpartum preeclampsia-- this study shows how Furosemide (lasix) can help "clear things up faster" (my non-doctor words, not theirs [:)] ) with severe postpartum preeclampsia. Interestingly, the study didn't find lasix helpful with mild preeclampsia or superimposed preeclampsia. Lasix is a loop diuretic that helps rid the body of excess fluid.
I still wonder if severity of edema would play a significant role in how effective the drug is? Just food for thought, and possible question to ask your doc about if your severe preeclampsia persists postpartum.
