We didn't find out with either of our first two kids and when I was pregnant with Chloe and facing much more surveillance and possibly more u/s and opportunities to peek we discussed it and decided that if we did find out, then we'd be breaking our tradition of waiting and making her pregnancy too different, too medicalized. In the end, we only had the one level II and I wouldn't let the tech peek, if we weren't going to know, then nobody else was going to know either[:p]. If we'd needed to do an amnio, we would have asked them not to tell us the baby's gender.

Re : Just out of curiousity...
I know this will sound silly, but we just sort of knew we were having a boy. We didn't even consider any girls' names... in fact, we came up with 'Kyle' at the same time in different rooms! (A long and weird story.) We did get it confirmed with our u/s though just to be sure!
Good luck to all of you who are TTC!

Hearing, "It's a boy..." was about the only good surprise we got last time around so, at this point, we're kinda thinking we'll wait to be surprised again... But, I really can't say for sure yet.

Re : Just out of curiousity...
We wanted to know the sex, and we were so happy when we found out we were having a girl. Then we lost her at 24 wks. I'm not sure of this, but I think knowing the sex may have made things even harder after her loss. I had bonded with the idea of having a girl. Next time I don't think I'll want to know the sex until I'm far enough along that the child will have a chance.
I'm going to try to ignore the fact that I'm pregnant for as long as possible. Ha! Yes, that's rediculous, I know!

Tracey...
I needed to "prepare" myself as I wasn't sure how I would take the news if I was to have a girl. As I was so overjoy to find out I was having another boy (my three sons and my perfect princess)as I knew for my mind and soul it would be better.
I am so very glad that I found out. I went thru Katlyne's things and finally was able to let go and put things away....
To answer your question, it's really a personal decision but for me it helped in so many ways....

I found that I became much more bonded with Amelia when I found out that she was a girl at the 16-week ultrasound. Next time, we definitely want to know gender for this reason. I also think we will now cherish every moment of a healthy pregnancy even more the next time, and knowing the gender of our little person is part of that somehow.

When I was pregnant with Ila, my husband and I had decided we didn't want to know the sex of the baby until the birth day. Now, in planning to try again, we already know that this time around, we want to know ahead of time. I think for us, it's a way of now removing the surprises from the situation.
Just wondering if any of you had had the same thoughts?
