Audrey's surgery went great

Audrey did great today, and her surgeon thinks she will have no further problems with her little bottom. In fact, she has already had some...(ahem)...results[:I], all by herself!!

Bless her heart, she had no milk after midnight last night , and nothing at all after 5:00am. Come 9:15am she still was dozing and not really fussing at all!! I was kinda grumpy and I had HAD my breakfast![;)]

TMI alert....Turns out the skin around her little bottom area was just way too tight, but the muscle/sphincter was fine. That's really good because if the muscle is cut too much it can cause incontinence for the rest of a child's life. The doc said her skin just didn't grow as she grew, which explains why it got worse and worse. The last few days she couldn't even pass gas![:(]

She is just taking Tylenol for pain now, and isnt' too fussy-considering. She is still pretty uncomfortable and we may be in for a long night, but hopefully she will be feeling just fine within the next day or two.

That is great news, Kathy!! I'm so glad that the muscle wasn't cut. I have a nephew that never had an anus, and it's just awful.

That's just great news[:)] I am so glad it all went well and I am so glad little Audrey feels better!! Poor little thing ( both of you). I pray you are both able to catch up on some zzzzzz's!!

Hi Nancy-

Audrey is doing pretty good. She has more doubled her birth weight and is up to a whopping 10lb 7oz! She also grew more than 4 inches!![:D]

She still seems to be having some constipation though, but it doesn't seem as bad. We go back to the surgeon again in a week, so we'll see what he says then. All in all though, she's doing better. Thanks for asking about her.

Hey Kathy,

I am glad that Audrey is doing better. Post back after you meet with the surgeon again next week. I hope it goes well. 4 inches! WOW! How long is she now? At 10.7 she must look really skinny. That's my kids!

Hey ladies! It took a while for me to get back online now that I'm back at work. Audrey is doing well now. The surgeon has us using a dilator on her little booty every day now. He said this is to keep it from closing back up as it heals. It has really helped her with the constipation--she isn't having any trouble now!!I was kind of nervous ther first couple of times I had to do it to her, but she doesn't seem bothered by it at all, and now it's no big deal. I am so thankful it was so easy to fix. She started smiling this week too! Talk about just melt your heart!! I've been waiting 3 months for that!!!
