Nutrition while TTC

Hello - I'm new to this forum as of today. We don't quite have the green light yet to be on the TTC train, but I don't have the preconception consult for another month. In the meanwhile, I am working on my diet and I am curious about whether anyone has taken extra folic acid, vit. C, vit. E, or magnesium in addition to the prenatal vitamin while TTC? I believe all of these are in the category of "may not help, but can't hurt." I'm also curious if anyone else has experience with Omega 3 fish oil capsules?

My Doc put me on a high dose of Folic Acid after our Precons Consult which was in the prenatal vit.

Hi,

I went to see a nutritionist. I have learned so
much about healthy eating and the importance of
eating raw fruits and vegetables. I have also
given up red meat (it is so bad for you!) and
sodas. I know that it is said that nutrition
does not play a role in developing pre e, but
I believe that it can only help and you will also
look more slim and trim! Anyway, the nutritionist
told me to take 800 mg of folic acid. I was used
to only taking 400mg.

I have started taking one baby asprin a day along with changing my prenatal vitamin; it's called Prima Care I think (will have to look it up). In addition to the regular prenatal things, it also has omega fatty acids in it, which I was looking for (so I don't have to get the mercury from eating fish, or take additional omega supplements).

For "fun", I have just decided to try eating a low-carb diet. Not because it's the popular thing to do, but because I crave, crave carbs, and I'm wondering if my diet has triggered some sort of insulin resistant behavior. I've just started...hope to be able to tell a difference in a few weeks.

While we were trying to conceive the first time around, I was on prenatals with 1000 mcg folic acid, and I started doing this about 3 months before I got pregnant. Good luck!
