How did you deal with Mother's Day

Thanks, mine was bittersweet, I had a wonderful day with my family (especially with my son), but it was so, so hard. HUGS to all of you too. I hope your day was peaceful.

My husband tried to make the day very special for me. It was a beautiful day so we went to Santa Monica and did a little shopping and a lot of walking.

It was really nice just to have him all to myself but, it was a blue kind of day for both of us.

One thing that I was surprised about though was that, with the exception of my SIL and friends that I have met that have experienced preeclampsia, no one (not even family) wished me a Happy Mother's Day. Seriously, our phone did not ring. I don't know what I was expecting but, it just made the day feel that much more empty. I can't blame people for not knowing what to do though I guess.

For as much dread I had of the day I actually did pretty well - except that I injured my knee at the start of the day! Mike and I went for a nice drive on along the Tacoma waterfront and through the park - we were going to do some plants for landscaping shopping - but hurting me knee stopped that!

No one called to wish me Happy Mothers day either - I think out of fear that it would upset me. I yelled at the tv during one particular mothers day commercial - which I told my therapist about today and he laughed and told me that showed I had made good progress! Anyway - enough rambling - I had all of us in my thoughts Sunday - as I pretty much do everyday.

Ladies...

Thank you for sharing... Sometimes, it helps to read that others have the exact same feelings as you do (yea, were all normal)

It's hard when no one calls or remembers important dates to us. DH family doesn't call on Katlyne's birthday where my family even sends a birthday card for us to put near her cake. Some just do not know what to do and that's the sad part. I guess they think it would hurt to much.

Most of my close friends either called or e-mailed me
wishing me a Happy Mother's Day. I had told them beforehand,
how hurt I would be if they didn't think of me on that day.
I guess it worked! Unfortunately, I had someone call me to
my cell phone to wish MY MOTHER a Happy Mother's Day!! Ugh!
