Tarpon Tournament &Silver King Banquet in Florida

Postby ileana » Fri May 26, 2006 12:53 am

Hello Preeclampsia Foundation Florida members!

We are thrilled to announce an opportunity for you to participate in an exciting and unique event that will benefit the Preeclampsia Foundation!

On June 17, 2006 the Professional Tarpon Tournament Series will host the first annual Silver King Banquet and Silent Auction with proceeds from silent auction sales, drink sales and a portion of ticket sales to benefit our organization. The event will start at 6:30 pm at Benedetto’s Steakhouse Martini Bar in Punta Gorda and will include a delicious buffet and live music. Banquet tickets are $50.00.

The Professional Tarpon Tournament Series is the only fishing tournament in the world where spectators can sit on the beach and watch all the action. The Tournament boats are just off the shore and when one of them hooks the 120 lb+ fish you can see the rods bending, the acrobatic fish jumping and hear from the numerous hand held radios in the crowd call out, “Fish On!!”. The tournament is televised nationally and in Canada on the following networks: Sunsports Network and the Water Channel in Florida and the World Fishing Network in Canada. The PTTS has graciously agreed to support our Foundation in any way they can and has therefore agreed to make their first annual banquet a benefit for the Preeclampsia Foundation. The Tournament occurs every Sunday with the finale being the Jim Beam Tarpon Cup Championship on Sunday, June 18th. If you’re interested in checking out some of the fishing, click on this link from the PTTS website for exact fishing times each Sunday: http://www.tarponanglersclub.com/PTTSchedule.htm

Check out the video on the PTTS website for additional information about the tournament - www.tarponanglersclub.com.

How can you help?

Buy tickets and attend the banquet
Sell tickets to friends, family or others
Plan to assist with the silent auction at the banquet and to help create a presence of preeclampsia survivors at this event
Approach corporations, businesses or groups who may wish to donate:
$500 sponsors get an ad in the program
$1000 sponsors get an ad in the program and a table for 8
$2500 sponsors get an ad in the program, table for 8 and a 4 hour fishing charter
$5000 sponsors get an ad in the program, table for 8 4 hour fishing charter, and hotel room the night of the banquet.
Approach businesses that may wish to contribute items to the silent auction (Spa packages, unique items, and pieces of artwork are still needed)

There are only 300 available seats for the banquet so make plans soon if you are interested in attending (there are 280 anglers in the Tournament and the remaining tickets are expected to go fast!). We need corporate sponsored tables if we are to reach out beyond the tournament audience to gain awareness for preeclampsia so consider who you may be able to approach to help us broaden our audience.

This is a great way for our Florida PF members to meet. Hotel rooms are available so if you come for the Banquet on the 17th you can stay to see the exciting fishing of the Championship on the 18th! This event will be a lot of fun and it’s something husbands will enjoy! Bring them along to join the crowd of spectators on the beach at Gasparilla Island State Park. Maybe your husband or others would be interested in actually fishing in the tournament next year!
