I don't know much about it, other than the fact that stress definitely cannot help, if you are at a risk of PE or miscarriage. One thing doctors will do to try to avoid PE (if any signs present) is bedrest, which is geared toward bringing your blood pressure down and lowering your chances of complications. So, with that in mind, a high-stress job definitely would not help your situation. Hope this was of some help.

Shelley, welcome to the forums. These second pregnancies are stressful no matter what. [:)] We have lots of posters white-knuckling their way through subsequent pregnancies here!

Our Experts say no, work-related stress doesn't contribute to preeclampsia. There are some interesting new studies that show elevations in some of the chemicals related to biochemical stress that may suggest the placenta's causing us to be stressed!

Here's two Experts links on stress and PE:

and here are some links to some recent articles in the news:

Our Medical Board has suggested anyone with a history of preeclampsia would benefit from oversight from a maternal-fetal medicine specialist during subsequent pregnancies. Have you seen a high-risk doc? Here's a link to help you find one in your area: http://www.smfm.org

One thing they do is test you for underlying disorders that could contribute to a tendency to develop PE, like autoimmune disorders or chronic hypertension.

Holler with any questions!
