In September of 2009, I had my first son via emergency c-section at 26 weeks. He weighed 1lb 5 oz. He was IUGR. I had developed severe preeclampsia and HELLP Syndrome. I had new doctors and a new hospital this time compared to my first pregnancy. They did not have me on any medications just my prenatals. My symptoms were very different compared to my 1st pregnancy. I had no swelling, no headaches. Just abdomen pain that had gotten severe and the pain moved to my back. It started at 25 weeks. I thought I was just having indigestion but when I went to L&D I found out that I developed HELLP syndrome. My blood pressure was very high so I also had preeclampsia. They wanted to deliver my son right away but they gave him a 12 hour waiting period for his steroids to help him. I had him at 26 weeks of the 12th hour. He spent 2 months and 5 days in the NICU when he passed away after surgery. I was heartbroken because I lost my baby boy. I had my girl and then my boy but I lost him. I cherished every minute I had with my son and he put up a big fight unfortunately he lost the battle. I was now beyond scared to have another pregnancy because they told me if I didn't come in then I could have lost my life.
