Well I guess I should start from the beginning: It started when I met my husband, we wanted to plan a baby safely so I went to a baby doctor and had an HSG test done. The results were that I could never get pregnant and well a few stressful months later I received the wonderful news that I was pregnant. My husband and I could not be happier. My husband already had two wonderful sons that I think of as my own and they were very excited as well.
We found out that it was a little boy and were very thrilled. I was a baby born early due to preeclampsia, and was very fortunate to survive. I had Ronan through an emergency c-section at 24 weeks of gestation. He lived for 1 month and 9 days, he passed away on September 11, 2009 at 10 in the morning.
Ronan died due to a medical condition called Necrotising Intercolitis, it attacked his intestines. I thought that my life was over from that point on, the doctors told me that it would be 50/50 odds that I would get severe preeclampsia again, luckily Ronan and I were research patients so hopefully that will help researchers in the right direction of finding a cure. Well I really wanted to experience being a biological mom, and went to a high risk ob-gyn and thanks to her I was able to carry my little girl to full term in 2010.
My little girl was born at 7LBS 9OZS, but had to stay in the same N.I.C.U as her brother Ronan. After two lung surgeries and one feeding tube surgery later, she is a normal healthy little girl (no more feeding tube). I am so thankful for her ob-gyn; she was able to catch the Chylothorax while my daughter was still in the womb. I am thankful that I went to a really good hospital both times, I had to have c-sections both times and Ronan as well as my little girl got the best of care in the N.I.C.U.
My daughter is a wonderful miracle and I am not going to push my luck, I have everything I always wanted, three wonderful kids and I could not ask for more. My advice to anyone that has this condition in their family is to get a really good ob-gyn, it can make a huge difference.
My story begins the Saturday morning my phone went off saying today I was 30 weeks. I was so... Read More
