My name is Dana and I developed preeclampsia in my 28th week. It was considered mild, but I was still hospitalized because my blood pressure was 175/95 and I was having severe headaches. By the following week, I had developed HELLP syndrome and my son had to be delivered by c-section. I almost did not make it through the delivery. Although my son was only 2.7 lbs, he was pretty healthy and only stayed in the NICU for 6 weeks. He is 6 months old now and doing amazing!
I have always wanted multiple children but am absolutely terrified of going through this again. My entire pregnancy was unpleasant with two surgeries in the first two months to remove one of my ovaries because of a softball sized cyst that was wrapped around it. I am truly blessed and my son is a miracle baby as they thought he would not make it through either one of those surgeries. I feel like I should just be content with having my son here with me but I have always dreamed of having at least two children. I hear the risks of this happening again are greater because of how early and how severe it was, but if anyone has any advice or just some support I would appreciate it.
