I had never heard of preeclampsia. I was 19 when I got pregnant. I also have lupus. I was told I should see a high risk doctor because of the lupus. I called different doctors and found one that said they specialized in high risk pregnancies. It was a large clinic and the doctor had several awards for clinic of the year and things like that. But I noticed that it looked like he mostly specialized in multiple births because of all the pictures of twins and triple...

My name is Lisa and my first daughter was born at 23 weeks gestation weighing 15.7 ounces because I had severe preeclampsia.
When I was pregnant with my daughter my mother constantly checked my ankles for swelling. She had preeclampsia when she was pregnant with me except they called it "toxemia". At 28 weeks she was confined to bed rest but she went on to have a full term pregnancy.
At 20 ...

I remember it being a Saturday, April 18, 2005, I remember getting up to prepare to go to work, feeling sick to my stomach I went to the bathroom all I could do was lift the commode an proceed to vomit. I had not so much as felt the need to do this throughout my entire pregnancy, this being my first pregnancy. So my husband and I just though maybe I was just getting a late start. My story happened in 1947. I do not know the full details of this story, because I was only twelve months old at the time. My mother died having given birth to a stillborn son. She was thirty three. The cause was pre-eclampsia.
What I do know how shattering that experience was, and how it has affected the lives of her family.
My grandparents grieved all their lives. My father re-mar...

Hello,
I have been on your website several times and I really appreciate it because it helped me understand what happened to me during my first pregnancy. I was 26 when I gave birth to my son, and my symptoms first started appearing at week 28 (high bp and protein in my urine). My doctor ordered some blood work and then...

I am sharing my story to hopefully help educate others about postpartum preeclampsia. I have had chronic blood pressure since the age of 25. Because I knew of the risks of high blood pressure in pregnancy, I took two years to try and prepare my body for pregnancy. I exercised faithfully, dieted, and was in the best shape of my life. While my blood pressure did drop some, I still had to take medication. When my husband and I decided that we wanted to try and get pregnant (I was 30), I w...

I was 14 years old and I had a cyst removed off my right overies. Due to this I was told that I was unable to have children. I was 21 years old, when I found out that I was expecting. I was shocked and happy at the same time. I found out when I was 14 weeks and 3 days along. In January 1996 I went to my doctor's appointment as usual and thought everything was fine. When the nurse called me back to see the doctor, Dr. Velez was very supportive towards this. Knowing my past history of ...

My husband and I were trying to have a baby for a year or so. I always kept telling myself that it would never happen. Then one day my prayers was answered and I saw a positive sign on the pregnancy test. A few months later I found out that I was pregnant with a boy and my husband and I came up with the name Wyatt. I was having a wonderful pregnancy with no problems at all until I was at 20 weeks along. All of a sudden my blood pressure started to going up and I was seeing the doctor every other...

My first pregnancy was a miscarriage at around the 10th week. My second pregnancy, beginning August 2003 and resulting in my daughter Claire, was immediately better in that I got nausea, so I knew my hormones were stronger. I wanted to have a home birth, so I hired a reputable midwife and met with her regularly. The first trimester was full of nausea and all of the normal symptoms of pregnancy. Beginning early in the second trimester I started getting almost daily migraines with th...

I'm unfortunately a multiple sufferer of PIH,Pre-Eclampsia and Eclampsia. In my first pregnancy, I developed PIH at 39wks and at delivery. In my second pregnancy, I developed PIH at 30wks. I thought everything would go fine and I would go back to normal after delivery. That was until I was 35wks and had a day of horrible HA's, Swelling, Vomiting/Nausea and a general feeling that something was "not right." My husband and I went to the birth center to have my B/P check...

Just this year I had my son in May. I never thought I could get preeclampsia. Hear is my story. I went to work on my usual day, but I had a doctor''s appointment. I went to it not thinking I would have to be induce that same day. I was 37 weeks along, technically that isn''t early, but still I was worried that something could be really wrong.
The reason why my doctor sent me to be induce, (not knowing before), that the horrible swelling in my feet and ankl...

In December 2003 I found out I was pregnant we had just been married in August. We were both quite excited. Unfortunately, I ended up getting preclampsia, a hereditary medical condition that can happen to pregnant women. What made it so usually is I began with symptoms as early as 2 months. This normally affects women in their third trimester. I was taken out of work at four months into the pregnancy. I had gained a 100 pounds...
