I am a 25 year old women who had preeclampsia. I thankfully had a very good doctor who saw all the warning signs. I was very sick all throughout my pregnancy. I lost a total of 25lbs. During the beginging of April 2002, about my 19th to 20th week I started to get sicker. I was getting really bad headackes and My doctor became concered that it could be preeclampsia. He talked to my husband and I about the warning signs to watch for. It was within a week after that I started feeling very weak and out of breath. I was having shooting pains in my chest. I was having headackes every day. I could hardly see straight at times. My doctor had me come in and checked my blood pressure. It was 160/106. He stated that I had preeclampsia. He put me on hypertention medication to try and controll my blood pressure and had me on bed rest. During this time I had 2 to 3 plus protien in my urine. On May 13th 2002 I was admitted into the hospital in Oshkosh WI. I was very sick, Puking and headaches and swelling around my anckels and face I had put on 15lbs in 2 days. The protien in my urine at this time was 4 plus. On May 14th, 2002 my kidneys shut down. I was transfered into a high risk hospital in Neenah WI, where my new doctor put me on magnisiam and steriods and brought my kidneys back. I stayed in the hospital for 12 more days on bed rest. On May 25th, 2002 I had the worst headacke of my life. On May 26th,2002 I woke up with the headache still and ate some breakfast. About 20 minutes later I called the nurse in because I felt like I was going to puke. I had very bad crapming in my stomacke. They took some blood and said that my platelets were very low and they had to take the baby. At 12:15pm on May 26th, 2002 I had a beautiful baby boy through a C-section. I was 27 4/7 weeks pregnant. My sons weight was 1lb 11.8ozs. My son lived for 45 days in the NICU and passed away on July 10th, 2002. This whole Pregnancy thing has been very hard on my husband and I. This was our first child. Thank you for letting me share my story. I hope and pray to God that no one else has to go through what my husband and I and so many other women go through. I just hope that in time they can find out why this happens and stop it. |
