I'm unfortunately a multiple sufferer of PIH,Pre-Eclampsia and Eclampsia. In my first pregnancy, I developed PIH at 39wks and at delivery. In my second pregnancy, I developed PIH at 30wks. I thought everything would go fine and I would go back to normal after delivery. That was until I was 35wks and had a day of horrible HA's, Swelling, Vomiting/Nausea and a general feeling that something was "not right." My husband and I went to the birth center to have my B/P checked and I figured I would be sent home and told to lay on my left side, drink lots of water and everything would be fine. However, my B/P was 168/102 and I was admitted and induced within about 30min. My B/P continued to climb and I was started on MEG. I was instructed that I was going to be given an epidural to lower my pressure. (I was not happy with this due to the fact that my first child was born natural and I wanted that again.) We agreed and I received an epidural. My B/P kept climbing and the protein in my urine was to the roof. I delivered Erica in 4 hours. While she was crowning, I felt very "tingly" and lost complete control. I was in a seizure! I had several more before the day was done. Erica was born at 7# remarkably and "healthy." I was in the hospital for 2 wks and then D/C under strict care from my MD. Erica is now 12yrs old and since she was born has had multiple kidney/bladder infections. She has had VCUG's and such, only to be told that they don't know why she has had so many infections or been hospitalized with sever kidney problems. In my third pregnancy I developed PIH at 27wks. I was placed on bed rest and monitored by my physician very closely. I delivered Hannah at 36wks due to an increase in my pressure but had zero complications during and after delivery. :0) I'm now divorced and remarried. My husband has never had any children of his own and so we decided to try. After 3 miscarriages I became pregnant and am now 30wks. Two weeks ago my B/P started going up,I began to swell in my hands and feet and have had horrible HA's a good portion of my pregnancy. I have been to the birth center for monitoring and blood work twice. I have now been DX with Pre-Eclampsia and put on modified bed rest. I think the most frustrating part of having Pre-Eclampsia is that I want what is best for both myself and my baby. I have three tweens at home to raise and want to be here for them too. The nurse last week made it seem as if I was "pushing" to be delivered. This is far from the case, but the fear has set in and I can tell with the growing SX that it's getting worst. I don't think anyone "pushes" to have a pre-term baby. I have worked OB as a nurse for 15yrs and never even imagined suggesting a parent was pushing for early delivery. This will be my last pregnancy and I pray each day that I can carry "Emilia" until she is 36wks and can be delivered with little or no complications.  In the mean time, I tell my family I love them and I have made out my Advanced Directives for both my new daughter and myself. Thank you for letting me share my experiences and I hope this helps someone in there journey.
