Hello, my name is Jenn...
I had a normal, healthy pregnancy. There were no complications, I rarely got sick, and was still very active. I went for my 28 week appointment and they noticed I had gained a litlte more weight than I usually had been gaining, and my blood pressure was high. After running further tests, the doctors told me I had mild preeclampsia. I didn't know much about it, but what I did know scared me. I was put on bed rest and had to remain in the hospital under hourly watch for my blood pressure and a high protein count in my urine. After five days in the hospital and the doctors now saying I had severe preeclampsia they decided to induce me.  I was only 28 weeks and 3 days along so I was terrified for my baby's health. I wasn't worried about me because I felt fine the entire time. All I could think was that my baby wasn't going to make it, or if she did would she be ok?  Too many thoughts were rushing through my head and I was so scared. They induced my labor at 10:30 on a Saturday night and by 12:30 Sunday afternoon my beautiful daughter was born, 1 pound 14 ounces and 13 3/4" long.  She has been in the NICU since then but is doing very well so far. She has graduated to an incubator where she can grow faster, breath on her own and enjoy the quiet surroundings of her own little "hut." I couldn't be happier with the nurses and doctors that are caring for her. She is 12 days old today and my boyfriend and I were able to hold her for the first time. Being able to feel her heartbeat against mine was the best feeling in the world. I wish anyone who reads this luck and hope your children are doing well.
