Hi there, My entire pregnancy was completely normal and enjoyable. I went early -38 1/2 weeks...last January and delivered a healthy baby girl. AFter about 6 hours.... I could not urinate and the Dr's noticed I was getting a little yellow in color.. I was sent directly to ICU - where they realized that I had HELLP. My kidneys shut down and I was really sick... I was attached to every monitor imaginable and basically they told my husband that all my organs had shut down except for my Brain and Heart. THe Dr's were amazing and treated me great. I had to endure 4 dialysis treatments since my blood cell #'s were so low and my numbers weren't changing. I was in the hospital for 11 LONG days. I was so weak when I got home, it was tough to hold my daughter. After about 6-8 weeks I got my strength back and now after 18 months... I am where I was before my daughter was born. The Dr's did say that they never saw such a severe case.... which frightens me to get pregnant again.. but I am determined. Does anyone know any Dr's in the US who have done some research on HELLP and meets patients? THanks for reading .... Alissa |
