| I have experienced 4 pregnancies and 2 were full of complications. My third pregnancy was induced at 32 weeks due to toxemia. I didn't experience any symptoms until my 32nd week. There was no drastic weight gain, only severe swelling of my lower extremities. No headache or anything. My doctor insisted on a C-section since I was far along enough for my daughter to have a fairly good chance at life. Delivery went well and I recovered fine without any lasting health problems. However, with my fourth pregnancy, I began to have problems around my 35th week. Severe headaches, excessive swelling in fingers, legs and feet. It began to affect my liver so the baby had to be taken immediately from my womb or the outcome would not be great. This time they said it was preeclampsia and after delivery I had to be placed on magnesium sulfate and several other drugs because they couldn't get my blood pressure to lower to a safe level. I battled with the blood pressure for 2 weeks before they finally had the correct dose of meds. that worked for my body. I couldn't receive visitors or even hold my baby the entire time I was hospitalized. I am now pregnant again, and I have many questions and concerns, because I really don't want to go through this again. Any support or preventive measures that any one may have or suggest would be greatly appreciated.
