My names is Heather, and I live in CA. I have two beautiful children, a girl(5) and a boy (3). In 2003 , I was 21 when I had my daughter and in the last month I started seeing a lot of swelling. I called my dr and he said that it was normal, but I couldn't walk. I continued to call him with my concerns and he continued to say that it was normal. By the end of my 38 week I was in the hospital with toxemia.The drs did no that I said it because my blood pressure was normal and there was no protien in my urine. When I delieved my daughter she was only 5 lbs, due to growth restriction from the disease. She stayed in the hospital for 9 days, because, due to the disease going untreated, she had low blood suger and was too weak to eat. She is doing fine now and she perfectly healthy. In 2005, I was 24, I wanted to have another child, the same dr. told me that I would be fine that toxemia only occurs in first time moms. I got preganant and was doing great. I hit 27 weeks and started have high blood pressure. I called my dr. (who was supposed to be treating me as a high risk) and she told me to just keep track of my blood pressure and she would see me on my appointment date. Then I hit 28 weeks and she said that same thing. When I got to 28 wks , my blood pressure was getting higer and I called her back, she said to come in on Monday. That Sunday I started having a gallbladder attack, I thought I was going to die the pain was so bad. I rushed to the hospital and was told that I had Hellp Syndrome was was dying. The drs. told my husband to gather the rest of my family so that they can say goodbye. They said that if I wouldn't have had the gallbadder attack I would have died in my sleep. My organs where all failing. I then got a steroid for the baby. which made my organs go back to normal ( temperaraly of course) so I was able to stay pregnant for one more week. I delivered at 30 weeks. My son had to stay in the hospital for 6 in a half weeks . He is doing great. no problems from his traumatic birth. NOW I WANT TO TRY AGIAN!!! I know that it is stupid, but i need to know if there is a chance for me to have another child or if there is a higher chance I will get sick agian. If anyone knows please let me know. |
