Hi, I gave birth to my stillborn son at 39 weeks on September 1, 2008. The condition I was diagnosed with was HELLP. During my entire pregnancy, I was told by my doctor that everything was fine and that baby was doing great. During my pregnancy I experienced lower abdominal pain, which I was informed was ligaments stretching due to the pregnancy. I thought that was weird considering it was my 4th pregancy and I had never experiened such a pain. Towards the end of my pregnancy I recall experiencing pain near my rib cage in the middle left side area. I was once again told that it was nothing to worry about since my blood pressure, weight gain, etc. was perfect. I remember feeling very tired and getting swollen feet which of course you think it's because you are nearing your due date. As I look back and think of all the symptoms I had (headaches, swelling, abdominal pain, blury vision, and fatigue) and the outcome it had on my family, I wish I would have been more persistent and have followed my intuition. I say this to say that it doesn't matter if it is your first born or 4th baby. Always insist on additional test being done if you do not feel good or comfortable. I hope that my story helps someone out there. Please keep in mind that some doctors will ignore the symptoms present if you do not have high blood pressure. Please insist on having additonal test done if you have the symptoms I had. Because I didn't have high blood pressure my doctor ignored my abdominal pain. |
