My daughter, who is 22, started getting PIH (Pregnancy Induced Hypertension) when she was 4 months pregnant. Her OB had her on 600mg a day of labetalol, which kept her stable until her 38th week. Her BP was 170/130, so she had to have an emergency c-section. That was April 8th. Still today, April 19th, she has high blood pressure and she is breast feeding. Her labetalol isn't working any longer. We tried aldomet also. Has anyone been told you can't breastfeed being on lisinopril? I have yet to find literature that says you can, but her OB insists she take it. I am a nurse at U of M and have talked with multiple doctor's out there. There is not one that says they would prescribe lisinopril, so why is her OB so pushy about this drug? He is from a little community hospital and wont try some of the medicines that are listed as safe. He prescribed her lisinopril. She has taken it today only. I'm just wondering if anyone else has taken lisinopril or have they even discussed this drug with their doctor. And, what are some of your conversations about it? Maybe I will see if it works and then try to talk him into the safer drug called Enalapril that is recommended. I feel that my hands are tied. I am driving myself nuts. Help! |
