My pregnancy was going ok until around 24 weeks when I started to get edema

My pregnancy was going ok until around 24 weeks when I started to get edema in my legs and feet. The edema got so bad I couldn't kneel down or cross my legs without being in severe pain. I could only wear sandals because other shoes hurt so bad. If I pushed the skin on my shin with my finger, the indentation would stay there for a while. Every time I visited the doctor, my blood pressure was elevated. I never had protein in my urine when I visited the doctor. When we got to the hospital the day of labor, they did some blood tests. My midwife came back and said I had preeclampsia and that I had to be put on magnesium sulfate to prevent seizures. I was at 38.5 weeks. I ended up with a c-section due to a long, epidural free labor, which I believe was due to the fact that I couldn't get up. I had to sit up or lay down the entire time. Because of the uncertainty of what my body would do the next time and some genetic problems with my daughter, I will not risk my life or my future child's life.
