The story is of my daughter and my beautiful grandson. My daughter only found out that she was pregnant when she was 4 1/2 months pregnant, due to an abusive relationship. Luckily we had to move in with her and that's when she found out. For four weeks we are all pretty happy feeling the baby kick, starting to make plans, found a house for all of us to move into and all the normal things you do when you are starting to get ready for a baby.
The fifth week my daughter and I went for her appointment with the doctor, flag one the blood pressure was up, flag two she had protein in her urine, flag three he was sending her downstairs for further blood tests STAT, I knew right then and there we were not leaving the hospital that day. As it turns out I was right, My daughter was getting all this information and figuring she'd be out in a few days. I was getting all this information and figuring she was spending the rest of her pregnancy or for as long as they could keep the baby and her healthy.
Looks like I knew what I was talking about. She ended up being in there for over a week and a half. Would have been in there longer but it became a hazard for her on Saturday night. her liver went into distress and it was time to get the baby out. So I went in the delivery room with her, we got to hear him cry which is something they told us he would not do. And it was such a surprise because when we first heard it I looked at hear and she looked at me and we shrugged our shoulders, but there it was again that beautiful little cry from our little angel and we both smiled and got tears in our eyes.
They let us see him for a little bit but them they took him to the NICU unit and that was where I got to meet my little Aiden Michael for the very first time. He had wires and tubes in him, and they had put this big blue cap on him that was almost as big as he was, but with all the tubes,,wires and everything he was the most precious thing to ever enter his grandma's heart, besides his mother of course. But he will always be in my heart . You see my little Aiden fought for 30 hours and I mean fought, he was even to the point where he was breathing on his own. Kicking off his covers, and doing little things to show his independence even then. But his body failed him he got a lung embolism and bleed out 1/3 of his blood and his brain was without oxygen for about 5 minutes. Too long for there not to be permanent damage. So we had to say our goodbyes to our little Aiden and know he is going to a better place and we will see him again someday.
After surviving a very traumatic first pregnancy with a nightmare delivery (30 hours of magnesium-induced hell, ending in an emergency c-section) and even more debilitating recovery, one would think I was DONE having children. Let's be ...
