I am not sure how to start this story out. Brings lots of sad memories. My fiance' (at the time) was away at Air Assault school in Georgia while I was in Maryland. He had got medically dropped for breaking his hand. The same night while he was waiting to fly back I started to feel really sick, and contractions were back to back with no break. I was persistant on waiting an hour or until I had six within the hour. They eventually stopped after I got up and walked around, and drank water. He got home the next morning, and the rest of the weekend I was fine. I went in on March 16th, 2009 for my regular 38 week scheduled appointment. Little did I know this was the day I would welcome my now almost 2 year old daughter into the world. The nurses aid checked my blood pressure, and it was 153/99. While I waited for the Nurse Practitioner to come in the nurses aid had me lay down to rest. Once my nurse practioner came in she checked my blood pressure again. It was the same, if not higher. She checked me. 0% effaced. 0% dialated. She recommended that I go to L&D to be monitered. So I went. They had me flop sides while monitering my daughter, and my blood pressure. They finally decided that once my blood pressure hit 175/125 it was time to go. They induced me around noon, started magnesium sulfate, and the regular IV's. I proceeded as normal just waiting to have Gaby. I remember them checking me and saying your 7 almost 8. We will be back in 15 minutes to check, unless you feel pressure then calll us. Less than 30 seconds after they walked out of the room my blood pressure machine went off checking my pressure. It was at the point 224/140 something, and my daughter's heart rate was in the 50's. All this time my epidural was not working, so when they took me back for my emergency c-section I had to be put to sleep. I do not remember much after that. I remember my fiance' asking why when they rolled me out of the room rushing toward the OR, why I looked "relieved". I told him that I wouldn't say I felt relieved, but I had a horrible labor that when it was finally out of my hands I had to give it God, and trust the doctors with mine, and my daughters lives. They had told him they had 10 minutes to start the surgery before I started to have seizures, and then if that happened he would have to choose who he would rather save. They told him that they were never going to put him in that prediciment so he didn't have time to suit up and come along. After all of this, when I finally woke up and saw Gabriellah. I felt relieved, but I am still haunted by preeclampsia. I always feel horrible sharing my story because I know there are women out there that have had worse situations than me, but to this day I pray that this next pregnancy will go smooth. I would never wish this on anyone. March 16th, 2009 was the night I almost died. March 16th, 2009 was the night my daughter almost died. I thank my God in heaven that we are alive and well today! |

I hadn’t been feeling well for a few days. I decided I would go in to work super early and give directions to the staff and then go home and go to the doctor. I got home and lay on the couch un...
