I stumbled on this site while surfing the internet and was happy to find it. It made me feel so much better to know that I was not alone. My due date was February 24, 2003, at my first pre-natal appointment my blood pressure was elevated, they thought I was probably nervous which I alway am when I go to the doctor. When I returned two weeks later it was still elevated so they put me on Aldomet twice a day which worked great my B/P was completey normal at all the following appointments, at one...

I was having health problems my whole pregnancy. I have had "rare" health problems since birth, and have grown accustom to being poked and prodded. Since this was my first pregnancy, I didn't know what to expect..but figured there would be a lot of pain, and doctor's visits. I have had high blood pressure since I was 13 years old, along with various other "premature conditions" for my age. After several months of seeing a specialist for this problem...and one for that problem..I became numb ...

When reading through these stories, I realize just how fortunate my husband and I are to have a healthy child. It also makes me appreciate good prenatal care even more.
Our story begins before even getting pregnant. I knew that getting pregnant was going to be something that was a little more planned than it is for some other people. I was taking medication for an autoimmune disease and needed some counseling on which drugs I could stay on throughout the pregnancy, which ones I needed to...

I was diagnosed with preeclampsia at 29 weeks. I was told not to go back to work and that I was to be on bedrest. A few days later I started having a very hard time breathing and was coughing very deep like I was congested (I thought I was getting pneumonia). I woke up in the middle of the night one night literally gasping for air so I went to the ER the next morning. I was so upset and scared, and as a result I was having chest pains. My blood pressure was around 170/113 and I was immediate...

I found out I was pregnant in April of 2002 and was very suprised because I was on birth control pills. This was my first pregnancy and my husband and I were getting excited about becoming parents. The pregnancy had been a normal one. I had dealt with mild morning sickness early on, but felt fine by the second trimester.
Our son was due on October 31, 2002 and by late September I started feeling really tired. I was also starting to swell in my hands, feet and face, but the doctors said that ...

I still remember vividly my second pregnancy, which ended with the stillborn birth of my daughter, Mary. I did not find out I was pregnant with her until I was around two months along. I went to the hospital because I was crying and doubled over in pain. I had to wait six hours before I got to see the doctor. The nurse took my vital signs and drew my blood. When I did see the doctor, he congratulated me, saying I was going to be a mom. I told him that I was already a mom and asked what he was ta...

I was 16 years old when I found out I was pregnant. My pregnancy went well until one evening, when I was 34 weeks pregnant, my upper back started hurting. My mom suggested that I take a warm bath. I did what she suggest but it still didnt work. The pain started to get worse, so she called my doctor and they told me to go straight to the hospital. When we got to the hospital the nurse took my blood pressure and she asked me did I have a history of high blood pressure, I told her no, and she...

It was known that I will get PIH due to the fact that I am phylonephritic. But we went ahead and I was suggested bedrest right from the third/forth month. And a complete bedrest from the fifth month..
I was admitted early in the hospital and was under observation. Doctors decided to take the kid by mid eight week as it was dangerous for both mother and kid. But by end seventh week, one fine morning i got some odd feeling. there was no pain, my PIH was asymtamatic you can say. I never had head...

Last year I lost my baby due to a severe eclampsya. I was at my 29 week pregnancy. I always have vomiting and terribles headaches but my blood pressure was normal. Suddenly, my blood pressure began to increase and it raised to 150/90. Doctors had to make an inmediate cesarean. I was in a intensive care for a day but I was at the hospital 15 days. My dear baby only leaves 4 days.
It was something terrible for me. I still fell terrible and empty. Thank god I have another two babies (7 ...

Back in early 2000 I was almost 34 weeks into my first pregnancy and eagerly awaiting my baby's due date of 2nd April. I went for a routine check up at my GPs and the midwife seemed concerned about my elevated Blood Pressure and sent me off to hospital for closer monitoring. My BP at that point was ?/108 and rising. I was kept in overnight and made such a fuss about this unexpected stay that once my BP had settled they (reluctantly) let me home. This was on the condition that I came in the follw...

I was 20 years old when I became pregnant with twins and weighing 160 pounds. The first months I was extremely sick with hyperemesis and the result of not beibg able to eat or keep ANYTHING down I lost 30 pounds within the first 3 months. After being sick for about four and a half months I thought the worst was behind me.
Then my hands and feet swelled up so badly I couldn't even put my socks on let alone my shoes. I started to see spots and flashes and when I brought it up to my docto...

I just stumbled across this site by accident, but would like to share my story. I would like to begin by saying that I am eternally grateful that I am alive, and that my son, Coleman, was born healthy (aside from some jaundice). I would also like to say that were it not for some very persistant nurses this may not be the case. The problems in my pregnancy began relatively early. I had severe vomiting and dehydration from day one, and despite an inability to keep down most foods I was gaining...

My wife, Araceli, and I were High School Sweet hearts. We have been married for 4 1/2 years and together for 13 years. We were looking so forward to being parents.
My wife went in for a doctor visit on her due date, March 25th 2003, and her blood pressure was higher then normal. She was a little swollen but not much. There was never any reason to worry. Since she was full term so they decided to induce.
The delivery went great but her blood pressure was still high. After the delive...

It was two days after Christmas 2000 that we found out we were going to have a baby. My husband and I were so excited because it was going to be our first child and nervous because neither of us knew what to expect.
My pregnancy was picture perfect for the first trimester. I had no morning sickness but did experience frequent bouts of nausea, which popping a few Tums seemed to help. Around my 23rd week, I noticed swelling in my ankles and mentioned it to my OB at my 24 week check and she s...

I found out I was pregnant on August 5, 2002. Like any other woman I was very excited. I began reading everything on pregnancy, such as what my baby looked like at the time and I calculated when I might have concieved.
I finally went to my first prenatal visit in October. I was 21 at the time and the father of the baby had decided he didn't want anything to do with us, so I had to get on medicade in order to be able to get medical attention. At my very first prenatal visit I got to he...
