I became pregnant,I told my boyfriend and he was not ready so he and I broke it off. So here I was 18 years old and pregnant the only support I had was my mother and a few friends. In the first couple months I was a reck I was constanly stressed out about how I was going to raise a baby I was only a baby myself. In my previous entry I did not mention my beautiful daughter. Her name was Ezmeralda Destiny Bateast. she was was so beautiful. She looked like a little angel. She looked just like her daddy. I was put to sleep when I had my c-section, so I did not know she did not make it until I woke up. I could not cry because I knew she was with God. It is now 10 months later and I can cry now. I feel her loss all the time and wish to God she was with me. I will always have her in my heart and she will always be my first baby. Some of my friends tell me that everything will be ok. I know that they mean well, but they do not understand the pain and loss I went through. I am so happy that I... Read More

My son Liam was delivered via c-section on May 24, 2002, three weeks before my due date because of pre-eclampsia. Although he was small for his gestational age, weighing in at 5 lbs. 0 oz. and 17 1/4 in. long, he was healthy and was able to leave the hospital when I left. I had had a "normal" pregnancy with no complications for the first two trimesters. I had almost no morning sickness and in general felt great. My blood pressure was always normal and my weight gain was relatively steady. However, I had noticed from the onset of being pregnant that my fingers were swollen. I had to move my wedding band from my left hand to my right hand and eventually took it off and wore around my... Read More

I was due Oct 16th of 2003. Things seemed to be going well at first. The baby was growing and moving. I started to notice my body to be kinda swollen. My famliy said I was fine and I was just over reacting. Till I started to get these really bad headaches. I went through the whole weekend with these horriable headaches. Finally that sunday night I stayed up all night just crying praying they would go away. But they stayed. I finally called my doctor that morning and told her I needed to come in. That morning they took my blood pressure and tested my urine. My nurse came back and said they were wanted me to go to the local hospital and be checked for preeclampsia. I never heard of this so... I'm home from the hospital, finally, I got back 5 days ago. The traumatic experience I went through I will never forget! It was Febuary 19th, about 11pm. I was studying for a class I was about to start online. Everything seemed perfect, seemingly-I had just gotten married January 18th, I have two beautiful children 6 year old Drianna and 20 month old Philip Jr. And as I said I was about to embark on my education. After my quad-screen test done some weeks earlier I had already been warned that my baby was suffering from Intrauterine Growth Restriction because his placenta was dysfunctional, and that put me at risk for pre-eclampsia. But my Doctor said Pre-eclampsia would most likely occur... Read More

I am 23 years old and was a student when I found out I was pregnant for the first time. I thought it would be easy and a piece of cake. But I was sick the entire time I was pregnant. Towards the end of my pregnancy I just got worse everyday. I started swelling in my hands, face, feet and legs. I had also been having headaches and seeing spots. My OB office had 7 partners and near the end of my pregnancy they were requesting I make appointments with some of the different doctors in case they were on call the night I delivered. The first week my blood pressure was 137/100. I asked the doctor why my blood pressure was so high and she blew me off. I also asked why I was so swollen. She... Read More

I had gained 41lbs and with all my other babies only 25lbs, I felt swollen and I had this DULL headache that would not go away. My husband said I started to not make sense. We had figured the stress of loosing my mom and my dad was dying and did die 3 weeks before my baby was born. The routine check ups kept saying my blood pressure was up and I was showing protein in my... Read More

I am a previous writer on preeclampsia when my baby was 8 days owe. Just wanted to give an update on my baby who was born at 26 weeks gestation. She is now 20 months old and is blessed and a blessing. We have some rough times but mostly great times. I am over joyed to say that my 1 pound baby is now 24 pounds 20 months later. The only complication I can actually say that she has is constant ear infections which is not truely related to the prematurity. My 11 year old son who was born in my 9th month suffered with the ear infections and went through the same proceedure that my baby is about to go through and that is placing the tubes in her ears to prevent the excessive ear... My DH and I were not trying to get pg, but God blessed us with a surprise. Early March I tested +. We were both so excited. I have always wanted to be a mommy. When I was a little girl, I never had make believe friends, I had make believe children. I felt like I had finally earned the pass code to the awesome club of motherhood and I was so honored and thrilled. I started buying cloth diapers, clothes, bottles etc. On May 12th or so I was diagnosed with Pregnancy Induced Hypertension (PIH), due to a very stressful situation at work. I was put on Aldomet twice a day. I went back in 2 weeks after being on the Aldomet and my blood pressures were still too high, around 140 over... Read More

I am not sure if I had Pre eclampsia or eclampsia. I know my doctor

Posted On Tuesday, March 16, 2004 By Fatima

I am not sure if I had Pre eclampsia or eclampsia. I know my doctor called it Toximia. I had all the symptoms - which he failed to recognize. High protein in urine, weight gain went from 120 to 192 - uncontrollable thirst, pregnancy was 3 weeks overdue. I was 20 years old at the time, was 19 for most of the time I carried. Baby was born in 2 hours, record for local hospital. After the baby was born, I had severe headache, and some hallicunations. I asked the nurse for an anacin, (this was 1959) before she came back, I was in convulsions. My kidneys locked, I was given some drug (new at the time) to start the kidneys going again. Everytime I could see - I saw 3 or 4 doctors and... Read More

I felt hopeless; I wanted to be a mother more than anything. With two previous miscarriages, I felt apprehensive about starting another pregnancy. Would this one work? Would I get a baby in the end? Or would I have to endure another loss? I was 25 years old and pregnant again. Things were great with the baby. I was having a perfect pregnancy. I didnt have any sickness. I did feel tired and was starving all the time, but I felt wonderful and happy. My doctor said things couldnt be better. I knew things were going to work this time. The first trimester passed without any incidences. I was home free. They say once, you get past the first trimester; you have nothing to worry... Read More
