I LOST MY LITTLE ANGEL ON 1-21-2005 HE LIVED ONLY A FEW HOURS. I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH SEVERE PRECLAMPSIA. MY WOUND IS FRESH. I AM BLESSED TO HAVE SPENT THOSE FEW HOURS WITH OSHEA, I DIDN'T WANT TO LET HIM GO I WISH I COULD HAVE HAD MORE TIME, BUT I MADE THE MOST OF OUR TIME TOGETHER. I NEVER THOUGHT THAT THIS WOULD HAPPEN TO ME, OR THAT THE OUTCOME WOULD BE SO TRAMATIC. I DON'T QUESTION GOD'S WISDOM,AND I KNOW THAT I WILL SEE OSHEA AGAIN. I JUST CAN'T HELP WANTING TO SEE HIM NOW, I WANT TO BE WITH HIM NOW. I HAVE ANOTHER CHILD AND I DON'T WISH TO NEGLECT HIM, BUT I WANT HIM TO UNDERSTAND THAT I WANTED THE BOTH OF THEM. I FEEL AS THOUGH I HAVE LOST EVERYTHING AND MY GOALS AND DREAMS ARE NOW... Read More

Only two months after getting married in October 1998, I found out I was pregnant! We assumed it would take a while and were shocked by the news, but incredibly happy. I was 25 years old. Like a lot of the other stories here, I had an uneventful beginning to my pregnancy. No morning sickness at all. Around 24 weeks my in-laws came to visit, we decided to go into DC and check out the Cherry Blossoms. It was an extremely warm day and I felt very sick. My feet and hands were all bloated, I was having trouble breathing and I was SO hot. We all assumed that the warm day and too much walking were taking it's toll because I was pregnant. That these were 'normal' symptoms. Little did I know... Read More

Hello! My name is Jennifer and I wanted to share my experience with preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome with you&& Back in 2002 my first pregnancy was going smoothly until my 32nd wk when I developed unexplained pre-term labor. I had noticed a small amount of spotting and immediately contacted my OBGYN. I was admitted and surprised to find that I was having contractions even though I was unable to feel them. After several days in the hospital on Mg Sulfate I was discharged to home on bed rest. Around 33 wks I started to develop some mild achy type pain on my right upper side of my abdomen just below my rib cage. Of course I didnt really think much about it. I thought it might... Read More

My Story My husband and I were very excited to finally be "pregnant". We had tried for a while to conceive and before this had had a miscarriage. We prayed daily for our child. Praying that he would be healthy; fearful of God; and of great positive impact to our society. Everything seemed to be going ok. I was often tired and voraciously hungry. On week 17 they did the alpha protein screener on me and it came back abnormal for neural tubal defects. They checked the baby via ultra sound and found everything to be ok. I went back for a repeat visit and was told that everything looked fine. The doctor did mention that she was worried for me about... Read More

My name is Jennifer and me and my doughter almost died because of preeclampsia. She was delivered 10 days before her due date by c-section.After she was delivered the NICU doctor told us she stoped growing 3 weeks before she was due. I had to be on magnesium and BP meds to bring my BP down ever after delivery. My doughter had to stat in the NICU for 4 days because she was not breathing when she was born and had had a BM while I was in labor. I was in or recovery for 4 hours while they were trying to stabilize me and I was in such bad shape that the had to put me to sleep and I don't remember much more other than at 8:00 the next morning being taken to see my beautiful baby girl. She weighed... Read More

My name is Brook and my daughter's name is Madelynn Hope. This is our pregnancy story. My pregnancy was wonderful at first. I had no morning sickness or other ailments. My doctors told me I was having a textbook pregnancy. At around 27 weeks, I started having pain in my upper right abdomen. I brought it up to my doctor who told me it could be my liver. He felt around and said it didn't feel enlarged, so I would be fine. At 29 weeks, I had a mild placental abruption along with contractions. They put me on Terbutaline to stop the contractions and sent me home on semi-bedrest. Two weeks later, I went in for a follow-up ultrasound. They found out I was contracting every 4-5... Read More

April 27th,I was just going in for my last routine visit with my OBGYN before moving the next day. As the nurse was writing down my blood pressure she asked me how my head-ache was. I was shocked that she knew I had this head-ache. She lied me down on my left side and turned down the lights and said "just rest while I get the doctor." The Doctor came in and checked my blood pressure three more times before he told me that I would not be leaving Rochester until I had this baby. What I had was called preeclampsia and that I was to head to the hospital and was not to worry. He also didn't really wanting me to drive my self there even though it was 2 blocks away. But he sent me on my... Read More

I am sharing this story today with everyone in order to come to terms with what happened 7 years ago. Until recently, I did not deal with these feelings I experienced back then, mostly because I did not feel I had the time with a new baby, but most likely because it was too frightening to do so. I am considering having another child, but have been forced back to deal with the experience I had back then in order to move forward now,if possible. My pregnancy seemed normal up until the last trimester. Towards the end, I began to "swell" everywhere - I could not wear my shoes even. I was rather active though, and ice skated up until the very end. I am also an RN but obstetrics is not my... Read More

I went to my regular 4 week visit with my OBGYN doctor I was 26 weeks pregnant my blood pressure was 120/100 I had no swelling, my babies heartbeat was strong and I was told everything was going well, two days after I left the doctors office my feet and hands began to swell so bad I had to wear house slippers to work. I called and spoke with the nurse she stated she was going to check my urine and call me back, once I heard back from her she advised me there was a little protein in my urine but not enough to be that concerned about she suggested I cut out salt and high sodium foods as much as possibly I took her advice which was not easy because besides veggies just about everything had a... On Valentines Day 2003 my husband and I discovered that we were expecting our second child. We were thrilled, but our joy was tempered with concern, as our 2-year-old daughter had been born at 35 weeks due to complications of Preeclampsia and HELLP Syndrome. As it turned out, the two pregnancies were a study in contrast. While my first pregnancy had been relatively easy up until the final weeks, this time around I felt terrible almost from the beginning. I suffered from nausea, dizziness, and fatigue for the first trimester. When I reached the second trimester, I was still tired all the time, I got an itchy, red rash over most of my body, and I began suffering from hemorrhoids.... Read More

Hi my name is Kelli Magruder and I am the mother of a healthy 2 year old named Delaney. Although she is the joy of my life, it took alot of hard work to get her here. I had complications from the beginning, but my doctor never really considered anything was wrong. I had high blood pressure from the very start of my pregnancy, and hospitilaized from my second month, all the way through to my fifth month of pregnancy from extreme nausea and vomiting. I couldnt keep anything down. When I say anything, that includes all liquids, even water. I lost an extreme amount of weight and feared that I would lose my daughter. At my sixth month we had moved to Georgia, and the doctor that saw... Read More

I was 21 years old and looking forward to the birth of my first child...a girl! This is my story. My first 2 trimesters were uneventful, really. I had no morning sickness and average weight gain. The beginning of the third trimester, I started to notice swelling in my face and hands. Soon after the swelling started, I noticed some intermittent numbness and tingling in my fingers. I notified the doctor of this swelling and numbness at my 6 month appointment. I was visibly swollen and had 3 months to go. But, my blood pressure was in the normal range so the doctors werent worried. The numbness and pain were attributed (by the MD's) to carpel tunnel syndrome. I continued with my... Read More

Posted On Wednesday, February 04, 2004 By Tonja

My pregnancy started out quite normally, I am told. It was my first pregnancy, so all I could do was rely on the stacks of pregnancy guides and the well-meaning intentions of others. I had persistent nausea that caused me to nibble on saltines all day long, which probably was the reason for a ten pound weight gain before the end of the first trimester. I was approximately 30 pounds overweight upon conception, but otherwise active and healthy. I was tired, and more emotionally fragile than usual. Still, by the end of the trimester, I had completed the babys room, told co-workers and friends about our pending new arrival, and had already dreamed of prom night for this precious child. I... I'd like to start by saying how happy I am that there is a site for us. Now with that said here's mine and Lola's story. I was told from the age of 18(Im 27 now)that I would not beable to get pregant due to having PCOS. That was enough to "kill"me right there;but I never gave up the faith and hope that one day I would prove my dr. wrong. Well;in 2000 I met and married the man of my dreams that I knew would be the father fo my child. We had some up's and downs when it came to talking about children(due to him not wanting any)but after a looong talk we finally agreded that if it happened then it happened. In Feb of 2001 I missed my period. that was it I just knew that we were... Read More

On the morning of April 11th 2002 I awoke at 6:00 A.M. with abdominal pain and was not sure whether or not I was in labor. I was expecting contractions and this pain was definitly not coming and going. I told my husband he better stay home because something was happening. I was confused with this pain this was my first baby. I was trying to time it like I had read and learned about in the birthing classes. Something was wrong. At around 8:00 A.M. I called my doctor's office and got the answering service. I explained my symptom (constant cramp for 2 hrs.) they talked to me like I was an idiot. I finally got in touch with the mid wife and explained my symptoms again to her. She asked me if... Read More
