Our Mission

To stop preventable death and disability of mothers and babies by eliminating delays in diagnosis, implementing the best known practices, developing new practices, and helping women and their families through the impact of preeclampsia.

What happens with the walk proceeds?

Walk proceeds will support foundation efforts to fund and drive research, raise public and professional awareness, and provide support and education for those whose lives have been touched by preeclampsia and other hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.

Our Goal

Our goal is to fund $100,000 in research grants in 2008. In 2007 we funded $50,000 in research grants. In the next five years our goal is to fund $1,000,000 in research grants annually.

Ways to participate...

Plan to walk and collect pledges locally. To meet our fundraising goals and fund preeclampsia research we need walkers walking all over the country. Please plan to do a Friends & Family Walk if there isn't a formal walk near you. We anticipate many more Friends & Family Walks around the country than formal walks.

Attend a Preeclampsia Awareness Walk in Davenport, IA; Minneapolis, MN; Madison, WI; San Diego, CA; Raleigh, NC; Tooele, UT or El Dorado Hills, CA. More volunteers are planning walks, please check back in mid March for more locations and specific location details.

No walk in your area? Host an informal Friends & Family Preeclampsia Awareness Walk in your neighborhood on May 10th or another date that works for you. Walk alone or invite your friends and family to join you and register on-line. You can also get “friends and family” to sponsor your walk and ask them to make a contribution in support of your effort. We will host a conference call during early April for those who want to do a “Friends and Family” walk and may have questions. Please check back here for the date or check the forum calendar. Friends & Family walkers are eligible for pledge incentives too. There will be a "mail my shirt" option for $2.50 shipping by the deadline.
