Marianne Roach Casserly is Secretary of the Preeclampsia Foundation’s Board of Directors. She is an attorney with Alston & Bird LLP's Washington, DC office. She practices primarily in the litigation field, with extensive experience in government investigations, internal investigations, white-collar criminal defense, and civil litigation. Ms. Casserly received her J.D. from the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law in Washington, DC, and her B.A. in English/Communications from St. Francis College in Loretto, Pa. Ms. Casserly experienced preeclampsia in all three of her pregnancies. She is married to Dan Casserly, and they are the proud parents of Marty, Colleen, and Sean. This is her first year as a Board Director.

Carol Hamilton ,
PharmD
Dr. Carol Hamilton received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Florida in 1989 then received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 1994. She then completed a post-doctoral fellowship in infectious disease. Dr. Hamilton worked as the Director of Training and Education for a pharmacy-based company and traveled to hospitals around the country training pharmacists and other hospital staff on the implementation of antibiotic management programs and tracking systems for antimicrobial resistance in their institutions. Personally, she experienced a sudden onset of severe preeclampsia in her first pregnancy, which resulted in the loss of her daughter. Midway through her second pregnancy Dr. Hamilton stepped down from her pharmacy position and is now a full-time mother to Lexie and Zachary. She and her husband live in Naples, Florida. She has served as a Board Director since 2004.

K. Kimberly McCleary
As President and CEO, Kimberly McCleary has – for 15 years – led the CFIDS Association of America’s education, public policy and research programs which seek to bring an end to chronic fatigue and immune dysfunction syndrome and the suffering it causes. She has worked closely with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Congress to define priorities and provide funding for CFS research. Ms. McCleary has developed and managed CDC-sponsored activities to educate health care professionals and the public about CFS, including developing the first national public awareness campaign for CFS. She also worked closely with the Social Security Administration to develop a policy ruling identifying CFS as a potentially disabling condition, making it easier for disabled CFS patients to gain access to federal disability benefits. She served on the Department of Health and Human Services CFS Coordinating Committee from 1996 until 2001, has testified before Congress numerous times, has done dozens of media interviews about CFS and was selected by Redbook magazine as one of their 2001 “Mothers and Shakers” promoting progress in health.
Ms. McCleary lives in Charlotte, NC, is married to Kofi McCleary and has two teenage children, Lauren and Kyle Kenney. When 28 weeks pregnant with Kyle, Kim found out that she had an untreated Rh incompatibility that caused serious problems at Kyle’s birth and during his first few months of life. This is Ms. McCleary’s first year as a Board Director.

Laura Daigle Muller
Laura Muller joined the Preeclampsia Foundation in early 2003 and has volunteered in many different capacities, including online moderator, webmaster, forum administrator, and is currently serving as the Foundation’s Director of Patient Support. In October 2006, she was honored as “Volunteer of the Year” with a Hope Award at the Foundation’s annual benefit gala “Saving Grace: A Night of Hope.”
Although she is currently working as a full-time mother to her children Alicia
and Camille, her professional background is in Public Health Advocacy in the
field of Tobacco Prevention and Control. She also volunteers for the American
Cancer Society as a Legislative Ambassador and was recently invited to serve on
their Ambassador Delegation Team. She remains active in campaign advocacy
efforts to promote Clean Indoor Air public health policy as a member of the
Alaska Tobacco Control Alliance (ATCA) and the Smokefree Anchorage Coalition.
Ms. Muller is currently in her third hypertensive pregnancy, and is expecting a
son in summer 2007. She lives in Alaska and this is her first year as a Board
Director.

Richard C. Proctor Jr., MBA
Richard C. Proctor, Jr., Treasurer of the Board of Directors, is the Chief Executive Officer of Glenveigh Pharmaceuticals. Glenveigh is a biotech company focused on obstetrics and maternal-fetal medicine. The company initiated and is supporting a Phase 2 efficacy study of Digibind® for severe preeclampsia. Mr. Proctor joined Glenveigh in 2005 after 14 years with GlaxoSmithKline in Research Triangle Park, NC, most recently as the Director of US Business Development and Lifecycle Marketing. He was also involved with the Glaxo Wellcome charitable foundation. His background includes senior roles in project management, business development, marketing, and corporate finance. He attended Darlington School, Emory University (BBA), Wake Forest University (MBA), and has received many awards for his scholarship, leadership, and career success. This is his first year as a Board Director.

George F. Schreiner, M.D., Ph.D
Dr. George Schreiner joined San Francisco-based Raven Biotechnologies, Inc. in May 2006 as Chief Executive Officer. He is experienced in all phases of drug development, from discovery through clinical development to commercial launch. Prior to joining Raven, Dr. Schreiner was Chief Scientific Officer and Chief Medical Officer at Scios until its acquisition by Johnson & Johnson, whereupon he was named President. In that capacity, he oversaw research and development programs at Scios in cardiovascular disease, inflammation, and oncology. He served on the Pharmaceutical Research and Development Committee for Johnson & Johnson and chaired its Early Research and Development Committee. Dr. Schreiner received his M.D. from Harvard Medical School and his Ph.D. in immunology from Harvard University. He trained in internal medicine and nephrology at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, held joint appointments on the faculties of the Department of Medicine and Pathology at Harvard Medical School and the Washington University School of Medicine, where he received tenure. Dr. Schreiner was one of the founding scientists at CV Therapeutics where he served as Vice President of Medical Science and Preclinical research. This is his first year as a Board Director.

Beth Schimel, Pharm. D.
Dr. Beth Schimel received a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin in 1985. She then received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 1994 from University of Illinois-Chicago. She has practiced as a clinical pharmacist at a level-one trauma center in the ICU. She also was the Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator at a community hospital in the Milwaukee area. Dr Schimel moved to a position in the Pharmaceutical Industry in 1998. She has practiced as a Medical Science Liaison (MSL), a Training & Development director, and currently manages 11 MSLs across the 22 Western States. She and her husband live in New Berlin, WI (a suburb of Milwaukee). She and her husband enjoy travelling, especially to different wine regions in the US. She has served on the Board of Directors for Easter Seals of SE WI since 2007 and has recently been named to the board of the Preeclampsia Foundation.

John Warner
John Warner and his wife, Brenda, own and operate a family farm in eastern Iowa that has been in Mrs. Warner’s family for nearly 140 years. He is also employed at Kraft Foods in the maintenance department. Mr. Warner has been a member of the local Lions Club for 15 years, holding various positions within the club, including President. Mr. Warner has been an active volunteer with the Preeclampsia Foundation since January 2005 when his daughter, Shelly Bridgewater, 25, lost her life due to complications from severe preeclampsia/HELLP Syndrome one week after the birth of her daughter, his first grandchild. The Warners have another daughter, Kimberly. This is his first year as a Board Director.

Leslie Weeks, JD, LLM
Leslie Weeks, President of the Board of Directors, received a law degree from the University of Alabama in 1999 and an LL.M in taxation from New York University in 2000. Ms. Weeks has been with the firm of Helmsing, Leach, Herlong, Newman, & Rouse, P.C. in Mobile, Alabama since 2000, and practices primarily in the areas of estate planning, general taxation, and business. Ms. Weeks became involved with the Foundation in 2003 after losing her first son to preeclampsia, and now serves as the Acting Executive Director. Her second pregnancy, also impacted by preeclampsia, resulted in a beautiful, healthy and almost full-term baby boy. She has served on the Board of Directors since 2004.
