Re: Should I switch to an MFM
I went to the same OB/GYN for 18+ years. When he was not careful handling my PIH and sent me home with bp in the 160+/100+ range after two deliveries (had to be readmitted for postpartum pre-e) I knew it was time to see another doctor. My concern in your situation would be your history of pre-e and ...

Re: Brewer's Diet for High Bp and even Pre-e?
This is a question that comes up frequently. You could search all the posts on this question or you can look at this long thread about it. https://www.preeclampsia.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=9742&hilit=brewer+s+diet+joy The person who was a proponent of this diet (Joy) admitted that it will not ...

Re: What was your BP when they finally induced
I had been admitted to the hospital twice already with high bp and elevated protein levels, but not quite 300. MFM was very watchful and waiting for me to say I was feeling worse. He would have delivered earlier if I had complained and I was determined not to complain and deliver early! Right before...

Re: early Pre-E signs - What to demand of Dr?
It sounds like your doctor is already watching you closely. When you see the MFM are you weighed and is your blood pressure checked or are you jut going for ultrasounds? Does the hospital you are going to deliver at have a nicu? If not, would you switch over to the MFM for delivery? If your hospital...

Re: headaches, blurry vision, elevated BP but NOT pre-e?
You might need to point out what your baseline bp runs. Also, some IV narcotics since that is what they are offering to knock the headache out might be a good idea. You might feel better and they would know you are serious about your headache being that painful. If you are refusing any meds. they ma...

I used a class C med. for headaches during my pregnancy occasionally. It helped break the cycle of daily headaches. Also, if you use magnesium use the powdered or liquid form.

Re: Rising BP, Complicated Pregnancy
Increasing my bp meds. bought my baby some extra weeks. Maybe a different kind of bp med. would not make you feel sick.
I don't know of any supplements that would help.

Re: Rising BP, Complicated Pregnancy
Hi Jen, I've had some similar situations. First, I've had 12 children. My first was delivered early due to severe pre-eclampsia and he weighed 4 lbs. 13 oz. I had a lot of easy uncomplicated pregnancies after that. I do have chronic hypertension that I developed during a pregnancy seven years ago. I...

Re: pregnant and elated and terrified
Congratulations! I didn't have HELLP, but I did have chronic hypertension, diabetes, and was 46 when I had my youngest. I delivered her at 33 weeks due to pre-e. Developed thrombophlebitis the day after we brought her home from nicu (I could barely walk!). I was wondering a bit if I was going to mak...

Re: Help! I really dont know what to do :/
I am glad to see someone in the practice is taking you seriously and that they are sending you to a mfm for a consult.
How you are feeling IS important. I remember being so surprised when my mfm told me I had to tell him how I was feeling and that would be a deciding factor in when I delivered.
