Re: New member and just looking for some support

I'm not sure what goes on with dads during this time. After a visit to the ER postpartum with high bp after my second pregnancy, on the drive home, my husband asked me 'so what exactly is eclampsia?' I think because no one ever told him flat out how bad Preeclampsia can get, he just thought it was o...

Re: How long between diagnosis and delivery?

have you gotten steroid shots yet? i hope you make it a little bit longer. i was diagnosed and delivered at 38w2d with my son. i was diagnosed at 32 weeks with my daughter and made it to 37 weeks and was then induced. they gave me steroid shots at 32 weeks, though, just in case, since things can cha...

Re: For those of you who were induced at 37 weeks

i was diagnosed with my second at 32 weeks, given steroid shots then, and induced right at 37 weeks. the epidural didn't work for either of my babies, so i don't know if it was that painful cuz of that or the pitocin, but luckily, with my second, i was induced at 8:30am and had her just before 11am,...

Re: Can you share your labor experience.....

i was induced for both pregnancies for pre-e, one at 38 weeks the day i was diagnosed, and my second at 37 weeks after 5 weeks of bedrest. the good thing is the pre-e never got severe, but unfortunately, in terms of labor, the epidural did not work for either of my kiddos, so that part wasn't quite ...

Re: If you did bedrest, when did you start (what BP)?

i completely understand- it really takes the fun out of pregnancy when you are sitting around waiting and worrying over something that may or may not happen. i hope you can have some worry free moments and that your little one stays safe in your belly for months :).

Re: Blood Pressure after Birth

it took 6 weeks PP for my bp to go back to normal. during that time, i took labetalol (400mg at the highest point). to rexelliz- from what i understand, if you stop taking bp meds (i know labetalol for sure) cold turkey, it can cause some major problems, which i think might be what was going on with...

Re: If you did bedrest, when did you start (what BP)?

with my second PE pregnancy, i was diagnosed at 32 weeks and put on bedrest with a diagnosis bp of 140/80. i think that bedrest may not work for everyone, but does work for some people. it worked extremely well with me. the only time my bp would spike was when i went to my doc visits (moving around)...

Re: Diagnosed @ 28wks-Several Questions

it sounds like you have a great team of doctors watching you. i love the amount of testing and monitoring, so that they are on top of things pretty much daily. my doctor was on top of things, but i still worried when i had a thursday appt. and had to wait until monday- i was always afraid something ...

Re: Did you get it again? and when?

I had preeclampsia with both of my kids. with my first, i was diagnosed at 38 weeks and delivered that day (well, early the next morning). with my second, i was diagnosed at 32 weeks and was induced at exactly 37 weeks. both times, i had no indications of anything, then suddenly had higher bp and pr...

Re: So a nurse tells me today...

i completely agree with all of you- that nurse/doctor was insane. yes, higher bp doesn't pose a risk unless it's years you've had it, but that's when you ARE NOT PREGNANT. when you are prego, the risk is right this very minute with high bp. and i had the same problem after delivery with my daughter ...
