Re: Visual Disturbances

Thanks everyone. I have an appointment today so I will definitely mention it. I'm a chronic hypertensive, so I keep tabs on my pressures at home. They have been up a bit, usually sitting in the high 130's/mid to high 80's, but spiking up to mid 140's/80's at night - not overly bad but still a little...

Visual Disturbances

Lately I have had a couple of instances of seeing shooting stars in my vision. It's not constant, it's not even a daily occurrence, and it only lasts maybe a second. Is it something I should be worried about? I'm 38 weeks 4 days along in my first pregnancy with chronic hypertension.

Chances of postpartum PE and induction of labour

Okay, so I'm chronic hypertensive, on methyldopa, and I've made it to 38 weeks 2 days! So far my BP's are good at home, sitting around the 130's/80's, rising to the 140's/80's at night, and usually around 140's/90's at the doctors and hospital. Baby is a little smaller than average but still normal ...

Re: Concerning or not?

Yeah, my home monitor is electronic, but so is my GP's. The way the system works here in AUS, as far as I am aware, in the public system we don't have access to MFM's, and we rarely ever see the same OB twice. I am on meds - have been since before pregnancy. I'm currently on Methyldopa 500mg in the ...

Concerning or not?

Okay, so I'm chronic hypertensive and 34 weeks 3 Days pregnant with my first. Had a regular check up yesterday with my GP and my BP was 142/95. She didn't seem concerned because it's never been that high when I've been monitoring it at home. There was no protein - not even traces - in my dip urine, ...

Re: Update

Apparently there's a worldwide clinical trial going on at the moment to determine whether tightly controlled or loosely controlled BP results in better outcomes for the mothers and babies of hypertensive pregnancies. It's called the CHIPS trial, and I was offered the chance to participate when I fir...

Update

Hi there. Just thought I would update everyone on how I'm doing. I'm now at 32 weeks 5 days pregnant. Two weeks ago my doctor increased my Methyldopa to 750mg morning, 500mg middle of the day, 750mg at night because my pressures were spiking into the 150's/high 80's at night. After that, I started g...

HELP! Worried - Methyldopa and postural hypotension

Following on from my thread last week about increasing my Methyldopa, I'm now having issues with postural hypotension :( I'm on 750mg Methyldopa in the morning, 500mg at lunch time and 750mg at night, and my seated BP's are between 130-150/70-85. The last three or four days I've been feeling faint a...

Re: Labetalol, Methyldopa and Incompetent Doctors

Thanks so much for your replies everyone. It has put my mind at ease to know that a lot of you have used Labetalol with no ill effects. Other than checking my baby's heartbeat and my fundal height at every appointment, my doctors are not doing any extra monitoring of my baby, which is really concern...

Labetalol, Methyldopa and Incompetent Doctors

Okay, so I am so fed up with my doctors right now. I'm 30 weeks 5 days pregnant, chronic hypertensive, and after good BP control my entire pregnancy, my pressures have lately been climbing and have hit 150's/high 80's at night. I'm currently on 500mg Methyldopa TDS, and this morning my GP decided to...
