Re: nursing a preemie
We also used a shield for a while, but it was when I tried without the shield one day that she really took off and breastfeeding became a success for us. I had feeding therapists and lactation consultants evaluating my daughter and giving me "reasons" why nursing was just not working. Turned out, I ...

Re: BP Meds making BP too low?
I would also give the doc a call in the morning. My MFM wanted my bp to stay on the higher side, even on labetalol, since bringing it down too low could have negatively impacted baby. My understanding is that you don't usually want your bp to be lower than your body is accustomed to.

Re: Making the call to deliver baby?
Mom29 - Wow, our little ones were close! I'm so glad to hear that your daughter is doing well :) My daughter weighed 3 lbs. 14 oz. She did really well, but we still had a 6 week NICU stay. She is now almost 17 months and is simply amazing. She is walking and climbing and talking, and tall for her ag...

Re: Introduction and worried
I was SO upset when I was prescribed Labetatol while pregnant! I wish I had known that it was really not something to freak out over. If your doctor is putting you on it, it's because you being on the med is healthier for your baby than you not being on it. That's how I had to think of it. As bp spi...

Re: Making the call to deliver baby?
Thank you ladies so much for your thoughtful replies. If only we had a diagnostic test! When I was admitted to the hospital, the MFM thought I would make it another 7-10 days, which meant the world at 32.5 weeks (I ended up delivering the following evening). Either way, there was no way I was leavin...

Re: Making the call to deliver baby?
Thanks for your reply. Yep, I have already had one consult with an MFM from the practice who saw me at the end of my pregnancy. At the time, the deepest I got into this topic was to ask if we would could have done anything differently on that night. He told me no, which was what I expected. As far a...

Making the call to deliver baby?
I have stopped questioning if everything played out as well as it could have with the delivery of my daughter at 32 weeks. However, I keep coming up with new questions as I begin to consider a future pregnancy. I know that sometimes preeclampsia presents so clearly and so severely that there is no q...
