Re: Complications following possible HELLP

Thanks, I will tell her. I know this was a very far cry from the birth she had initially wanted and it was a very hard road getting this baby here at all (she had two ectopics and lost both tubes and then had IVF for this one) so I imagine that at some point she will need to speak to someone.

Re: Complications following possible HELLP

My SIL is doing well and spending most of her days at the hospital with her baby - she says he recognises her husband but not her and I think that is causing her some guilt issues - we told her he would soon know her well. They have been working to get him to suckle this week, but it is slow going -...

Re: Pls help need reassurance

I would drink more if I were you - I am not convinced that your signs can be from dehydration, but you are not drinking enough for a healthy pregnancy. The survival rate for 26 weekers can be quoted as between 60 and 80% but like anything it depends on a number of other issues too. Apparently one st...

Re: Complications following possible HELLP

Went to visit my SIL today and she was released from the hospital this morning! So we saw her at her house. She looks a lot better than when I saw her a week ago - less swollen except for her feet, the bruising is healing fast and she is stronger. She says she just needs to go back for a check up in...

Re: Complications following possible HELLP

Have had very little news recently, but it appears things are going better and we are hoping to go and visit her again tomorrow. She was allowed out of the hospital with her mother this morning just for a short break - I think it has been 3 weeks now since she was first admitted to hospital. She is ...

Re: Complications following possible HELLP

My SIL sent an sms to say she is out of ICU now and they have put her back in the maternity ward so that she can visit her baby (not something they normally do when you are no longer pregnant but sick). Have no details about what changed, but I am sure everyone is relieved. I imagine that her creati...

Re: Complications following possible HELLP

Still in ICU and some disappointment is setting in now (hers and her parents I think) since there was talk of being out by Saturday and its now Tuesday. The baby is doing well and weighs more than he did at birth - there is talk that he may only remain there another 3 weeks (but again this can go up...

Re: Complications following possible HELLP

My husband and I went to visit my SIL today - it was the first time I have seen her since her baby was born. She seemed upbeat and had a positive attitude, though I am sure she is still struggling. She is still very very swollen and is extremely bruised - every single place they have touched her she...

Re: Complications following possible HELLP

Haven't heard too much the last couple of days - my SIL was doing ok, but have heard today that her blood pressure is again high (160/110) and that they are thinking of yet another platelet transfusion, so she remains in ICU - I know she was keen to get out of there and there was talk of it, but she...
